Indeed. Budokai 3 seemed to be the worse case as before you fight him someone will say they sense a power greater than Buu not to mention the opening has him fighting Gogeta. BT3 does this as well. No offense but the general western fanbase of DBZ is full of utter morons. Ignorant, uninformed, and biased are three words that come to mind. a lot of them need to read the articles on this forum and just get educated.

Budokai 3 is a weird case, Broli's power seems to vary between each story mode he appears in. He's possibly stronger than Boo in Goku and Vegeta's story modes (although he loses to Vegeta, so apparently not), he's about even with Ultimate Gohan in Gohan's story mode, in his own story mode he's the same as he is in Movie 10, except for the second playthrough where he defeats SS3 Goku, and Piccolo's story mode he loses to Piccolo!
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Funny that I never liked Broli, but I always enjoy DBZ Movie 8. DBZ Movie 8 was the first DBZ movie I saw in Japanese with subs before it came out in the US, so it holds nostalgia for me. I think Toei keep Broli dead after DBZ movie 8 then he would most likely won't be as hated by most hardcore fans. Movie 10 didn't do anything new with him like they when they bring back Coola in DBZ Movie 6 and Bio Broli was a just pain lazy in my opinion.

Yeah, I think so too: Broly was a great idea that was nicely executed in Movie 8, the movie had an interesting concept with an interesting villain, and had an extended duration because it did spend more time than usual to put the story in place, with an interesting investigation by all characters trying to find out about mysteries around.

But bringing him back was a fatal mistake, that was poorly executed. I don't think it could have brought anything more to it than what Movie 8 did, so at the best it would have been redundant (is that the right way to spell that word?).
Unlike other "villains" like Birus - who has a temper developped enough to have room for interesting developments and unexpected twists and interactions in the future - the ruthless "every hit is meant to kill you", "I want only destruction everywhere" psychopath is a good concept to face for heroes, but for a one-time occurence only, since there's no room for further interesting development when the opponent is a mental wall you can't reason with that will always be about "Destruct, destruct, destruct! Kill, kill, kill! So good to spend every second destroying everyone and everything everywhere!"
But even worse, Movie 10 and Movie 11 actually failed to be interesting for various reasons, but also destroyed anything making the villain remotely interesting in the first movie.
So, it was like "okay, we've had enough with this guy, he's not even interesting anymore and the events are not interesting either, stop bringing him back for nothing, it's time for other villains to shine!"

So I do like the character as represented and used in Movie 8, but I do think he should have never been brought back, that Movie 10 and 11 are among the worst (only Movie 3 is below them), that he's been showcased too much like "the ultimate opponent" in media like video games when he's not THAT powerful: he seemed invincible to the "before Super Saiyan 2" Cell Game characters, but the main warriors from the Boo saga would likely seem invincible to them as well.
Everyone will have their own opinion on his power level, and he was one of the toughest opponents giving the heroes more trouble than the villains so far, but just like all movie villains, his power certainly doesn't go beyond the era he appeared in.
As far as I'm concerned, ever since I saw the movie as a kid, I always felt that a pissed-off Super Saiyan 2 Gohan just like in the Cell Game would already be big trouble for Broly.

I only wish that the animation team that did M10 were the ones that did M8.

I recently heard a fan say that Tien is much, much stronger than Piccolo in the Buu Saga using the following logic:

1. Kaioshin is way stronger than Piccolo.

2. Kaioshin was able to push away one of Fat Buu's blasts with a lot of difficulty.

3. Tien was able to push away Buutenks' blast with ease.

4. Tien >>>>>>>>> Kaioshin >>> Piccolo.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

I once came across some dude who said the "I eat really wholesome foods" line from the Funi dub of Z is better then "maybe I trained harder then you" line from the Funi dub of Kai because the Kai line is "boring".

I think it's episode 68 at the beginning when Goku taunts Bahta right before he knocks him out.

I didn't hear it myself but I remember someone on Twitter saying their work friend insisted that DB was made by Disney.

I once heard some guys say they liked Ms. Nadolny more because she's hotter than Ms. Nozawa. While yes it is true that many of the Funimation cast members are lovely women, that's a dumb reason and makes you sound like a pig.

"DBZ Kai is holding up the BOG dubbing, I'm surprised they haven't realized nobody likes that shit"

Fuck the youtube community and it's nostalgia fans who don't even read into how the dubbing process works. Kai isn't holding up BOG. It's like a sigh of relief coming here where people most people truly understand the series instead of the toonami posers.

Funny you say that. Before DBZ KAI came out in the USA. People was complaining about to long stare downs and powering up scenes being way to long. Hell they even said pointless scenes(Filler) was bad. Then when Kai came out. All in sudden those scenes are the best thing ever. Hell Kai kept a lot of filler in. You would think they would prefer Kai. It's sad because most DBZ fans aren't even anime fans. Hell the one that are anime fans but blinded by nostalgia say Naruto,Bleach, Kaze No Stigma, Hero Tales, HSOTD, Hunter Hunter, Cowboy Bebop, and even fucking DeathNote had bad dubbing but yet say DBZ had the best dubbing. I know it's an opinion but damn. That's almost a fact that at least 1 of those dubs were better than DBZ. I'm going to laugh my ass out when they say how much the actors improved in BoG yet most likely 100% of them are Kai voices actors. Lastly I must say that I can't wait to see all the comments saying the OST for BoG suck because of no Bruce F. Or whine and complain and ask why Bruce F didn't score the movie. I seriously question if they know anything about anime or DBZ at all sometimes.

Rant Over. Sorry. Had to get this out.

With a lot of what you mentioned, a lot of those some guys watched downloaded fansubs first, and then saw the dubs they didn't like. I've noticed a lot of folks will bash post-torrent shows' dubs but not the anime that premiered before the big torrenting anime trend. For example, quite a few guys were angry over Naruto's translation of "Dattebayo" but I have never heard anyone complain of Kenshin's "de gozaru" translation that Media Blasters did. (For those who never saw Rurouni Kenshin, Media Blasters translated it in the subtitles and dub as "that it is" or some variation).

Hell I bet if they grew up with Toonzai version of DBZ KAI(With Z voices but with Toonzai edits) and A remake/Re-cut came out that was UNCUT even in english they would say Toonzai > Recut UNCUT version. It's sad t times which is why I stop debating on Youtube about certain anime(s). Here's a very funny thing I saw last week. Remember before Kanzenshuu there was Kanzentai and Daizenshuu EX? Well this fan said Daizenhuu Guide book was Daizenshuu EX and when they merged(Kanzenshuu and Daizenshuu EX) it became a fan website that doesn't follow the original Manga and JPN audio, Here's a full C/P of the conversation(THE LAST Debate I'm doing on Youtube about anime).
I stop replying as soon as he said IN YOUR FACE. That was just random and childish. I was being childish as well. But damn.

"Goku can't destroy a planet. You know why? HE NEVER DONE IT -_-. You would think if he could he would have done it dont ya? Freeza,Cell, and even fucking Kid Buuuu all destroyed planets. Yet Goku never done it once. What does that tellss ya? Goku cant destroy a planet"
