My least favorite Z part is the artificial humans and then Buu. But the Great Saiyaman saga is one of my favorites

Aww man, those are my favorite parts of the show, but hey, I respect your opinion.garnetjester wrote:My least favorite Z part is the artificial humans and then Buu. But the Great Saiyaman saga is one of my favorites
Also, another unpopular opinion of mine:
I do know a lot of fans don't like Garlic Junior (I don't like him that much either, TBH), but I can't help but feel a little sorry for the guy when he suffered a terrible fate in the Garlic Junior Saga. I think I would go terribly insane if I found myself trapped in a vortex for all of eternity. I would rather die than to suffer that.

I don't feel sorry for him, he brought it upon himself. Because he's the stupidest, dumbest villain ever. He was immortal, pretty much, and even if he was (he wasn't) weaker than Goku and Piccolo, he would won by sheer endurance anyway. So he pretty much couldn't lose. Then he opened the Dead Zone for no reason instead of just killing them and got sealed.MediaFanGirl93 wrote:Aww man, those are my favorite parts of the show, but hey, I respect your opinion.garnetjester wrote:My least favorite Z part is the artificial humans and then Buu. HE GAVE THE HEROES THE TOOL NEEDED FOR HIS DEFEAT, FOR NO APPARENT REASON. HE BASICALLY DEFEATED HIMSELF.
I know it was probably the writers doing this (althrough they could've used the Mafuba) because they wrote themselves on a corner, with an in-universe explanation like "hurp durp he wanted to seal the heroes in the Dead Zone so they would have gone through the same suffering as his", but it's retardedly stupid imho.
That's why immortal villains are bad for writing in general.

I'm not saying that Garlic Junior didn't deserve what he got, considering he was a villain and all and he did try to murder the Z-Fighters. all I'm saying is that I would hate to be in his position and that would suck ass to be trapped somewhere YOU CANNOT leave for all of eternity, lol.Flame Dragon wrote:I don't feel sorry for him, he brought it upon himself. I personally think he's one of the worst villains/characters of the series and I despise his saga anyway.
Re: Unpopular DB opinions
Speaking of Garlic Jr, his arc would have been better if Yamcha & Tenshinhan actually got to join the fight instead of the Piccolo-Gohan-Kuririn trio again. After all Garlic Jr had four henchemen, so it'd make perfect sense to let Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Chaozu, and Kuririn all get in a victory.

Agreed. Thinking about it, yeah having Tien, Chiaotzu and Yamcha in the action probably would have made that arc somewhat more tolerable.
Bonus points for them actually getting to kill some baddies.

Yeah, i don't get it. Fillers should be a good time to break things up, to do something different. But even in filler, humans were barely spotlighted. The only decent thing humans did in filler was probably the fight against the Ginyu Force.Gonstead wrote:Thinking about it, yeah having Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu and Yamcha in the action probably would have made that arc somewhat more tolerable.

Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Although I like Tenshinhan I'm starting to find him overrated. Most of his victories aren't even real victory like his "win" over Goku at the 22nd Budokai or his "win" over Semi-Perfect Cell.

For a man that trains day and night, he's pretty pathetic. He's become more of a support character with his abilities, and less a fighter. He's good to waste time on enemies. I wonder if his Battle of Z character is a support character as well.MediaFanGirl93 wrote:Tenshinhan? He's also from an alien-hybrid tribe, so that would explain why he can slightly push himself harder than the human cast.

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less about the fans a re-issue might alienate because if all they're concerned about is being able to scalp the people who were either unaware of the Dragon Boxes or couldn't afford them at the time, they're just leeches and deserve to have their greed backfire on them.

Re: Unpopular DB opinions
H'okay, I've just watched the first episode of Dragon Ball GT on Funimation's site (my first time watching it with the original BGM). And I have to say...I might like it more than Dragon Ball Z.
It is not well-written; indeed, I'd say this is where Dragon Ball crosses over from "childishly charming" to "stupid." But it's an endearing kind of stupidity, like a fanfiction that worms its way into your heart--you have to continue, no matter how much you roll your eyes (I've developed a similar feeling towards the Kingdom Hearts series). And its poor writing is a result of over-earnestness, which I look more favorably on than the apathy that pervades so much of Z.
Plus, I love Dan-Dan. So much better than Cha-La Head Cha-La.
I hope I haven't committed suicide with this post

Hmm. I like Peter Kelamis and Sean Schemmel just the same as English Goku. I never really cared for Corlette.
