unearned powerups are a trend. Did you not see Future Trunks in the Black arc? Or Freeza during RoF? Or Granolah becoming the strongest in the universe with a single wish? This isn't new, and it doesn't bother me.

Frieza's power up was not unearned because he trained for it. I guess you could say that even Trunks was at least training, although his new form wasn't a result of that. Granolah's power up was created to be a shortcut and the point was that it was indeed unearned (and yet a lot of people hated it)

I mean, the fact that it already happened on the series doesn't necessarily mean it's a good thing.

Exactly. Can't tell you how disappointed I am. Also, that's even worse than Resurrection 'F', which implies that Toriyama is a TERRIBLE WRITER. Someone needs to stop praising him as if he was a god and slap some sense into him.

So this movie indeed is 100% DBS. It's sad cause i felt this movie might be fresh, but it was foolish thinking. I was actually defending it cause it seemed like something new, a nice change from everything DBS has done so far, including that stupid Broly movie. But in the end it's typical DBS lol, shouldn't be surprised. I mean it still seems better than Broly and Ressurection 'F' to me, but compared to how good Battle of Gods was...i can't believe they still can't create anything that would be even 10% as good and original as BoG.

....Battle of Gods wasn't that good. It wasn't even that original. Setting the movie at a party with all the characters present was done just a couple years prior with the special. The idea of Saiyan's putting their energy into another to power the up was done in GT.

Supposedly, Shenron grants Piccolo an additional form, but I have no idea if that's true.

Gohan's new form is him with hair 3 times as long with a big bang akin to kid gohan ss2 with white hair and red/purple eyes and glowy & powerful aura. the transformation scene is exactly like his ss2 form and thinks piccolo died. Cell Max looks like the leaked image a few days ago of semi perfect cell on roids and red with a club like tail. his spots allow him to shoot energy beams from them. He kills CM by firing a super powered special beam canon through his head that has a failsafe that Hedo intentionally gave him if he ever went amok. Orange Piccolo is a thing and the 2nd form Shenron granted him after Dende upgrades the Shenron statue with some super kami water since he isn't old enough to unlock potential yet. Piccolo also forgot he can get giant lol Krillin of all people reminded him. 18, Krillin, Bulma, & the boys did go to help Gohan and co but were all getting demolished until Gohan transforms. apparently the animation and art quality is so high when this happens and after that its arguably the best of the franchise.

Ah, so he doesn't get his potential awakened by a Namekian, I wondered why the spoiler I saw said Shenron gave him an additional form, I didn't think Shenron would unlock his potential.
