I love these new sets, but in my opinion they don't hold a candle to the Dragon-boxes.
I saw your Youtube video about the DragonBall Z level sets cancelled, you were just as bummed as me, don't deny it. When you taste the nectar of the gods, there's no other substitute.
My Youtube video? I admit I love the quality of the level sets better than the Dragon-boxes but what video are you talking about?
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

There will never be a perfect Dragon Ball release, if a particular fan wants it the way he imagines it then he/she needs to do the job, with the content already available.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

Haha that's okay! :P But to get back on track. I have read from people(not many) that the Dragon-boxes are too pink. I personally love it! I mean, I think it looks fantastic! and I question if Toei could make it look even better than what they did with the Dragon-boxes? I mean, they probably could...but I'd have to see it. :P

I agree with this to a certain point. There ''Could'' be a perfect release. If they gave us a proper 4x3 release that's remastered properly either by Toei or Funimation, and this release included the Japanese audio, and Funimation audio, and both US and Jap title cards and credits, What else is needed? :P This series is never going to look like a new cartoon. It's just not going to happen and I'm okay with that. :)

I dont mind the pink but sometimes it really obvious lol. But It's like the singles. I dont noticed the "defects" often unless I am comparing it to another release.

What else is needed?
It would need the NEPs a thing that FUNimation apparently doesn't have or if they did then they would have included on the DBZ Level 1.1 and 1.2 Blu-rays.

I wonder if for Dragon Ball GT they still have the Dragon Box GT footage because that's what they used plus the NEPs were in English (unfortunately with Menza's score).

Btw, I like the pink colour to it that the Dragon Box Z has so that was never a problem for me, nor the green skies.

I really don't think Dragon Ball needs any color correcting and the colors don't look that bad. The green sky to me is cool, but the pink is okay. I would expect this from a show that is almost 30 years old lol and they can focus on important things like making it 4:3.

I've never hated the pink that much whilst watching my Dragon Boxes but when you do a side by side, I think it's pretty clear that the Boxes are just that fraction too pink.

Agreed. It just gives that more natural skin colour feeling, but people (white) have the one on the right though.

Haha, well my natural skin colour is certainly more like that one on the right. The cels I own certainly match the one on the right too. But heyho, it's a matter of opinion as opposed to an accuracy debate.

I dislike this kind of lame generalization. Most of the hardcore fans with common sense would be happy enough with a Blu-ray release with uncropped footage, corrected colors, NEPs, and the appropriate opening and ending animation with the Japanese credits. It's a commercially possible degree of demand which many other anime releases have met without problem. If there's someone who still complains about it, he's just a romantic complainer.

What's so special about NEP's?

They're neat. They have original narration. They're part of the original broadcast. Sometimes they have extra mistakes that aren't in the final broadcast.

They're a part of the complete whole.

As someone who had its first exposure with NEP's trough GT (albeit, awfully translated in my dub), I love them to death. You may know what the next episode is about, But it feels so good hearing the characters (or in my dub, the narrator) talk about it. It only makes you watch the next episode even more.

$44, what in the name of the lord? How did we see such a price jump?

It's $34 when you click the link, don't be giving me heart attacks. So, amazon will at least make it half of this price, perhaps.
