I rushed it, but I think I improved the proportions and style overall. I don't see why the art style can't resemble this more.

(Original for comparison:)

The face was too chubby, the mouth was off center (which is a stylistic choice, not not one I associate with Dragon Ball), the torso had no muscle definition, making him look chubby, and the hips were too wide and long. Of course, the hair and armor are way off too (though I think my hair is still slightly off).

About the torso muscle definition, I disagree, there's a lot of Toriyama bulky characthers from Cell/buu saga styles and their torso is done in that way.

Yeah, you're probably right about that. I went off of a screenshot from the anime, so it was probably just one of that animator's quirks.

FUNi has a special deal this weekend only, if you buy seasons 1-3 you get the 4th season free. Ends sunday.

Amazon: S1-S2-S3 for $57 (with S4 it's $82)
FUNimation: S1-S2-S3 for $100

Still cheaper to buy through Amazon than FUNimation what a joke calling it "free".

The thing of this screenshot is that there he's not a normal ssj anymore, he's turning in a bulky ssj. In that illustration, is just a SSJ

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxdg_lvYR0M This guy does a good job comparing the new season sets to the orange bricks and it becomes perfectly clear how terrible that release was. He then compare it to the level and dragonbox sets and says they are even better than those which is clearly opinion based and in my opinion wrong. The colors are too vibrant on the season sets compared to the level sets which are the most color accurate of all the Z sets due to the dragon boxes pinkish fading problem. :'(

He's clearly forgetting that Dragon Ball Kai had a far better remastering of "Season 2" than these Blu-rays of FUNimation.

I agree with him when he says that these Season BDs are better than the Orange Bricks but that's about it.

Edit: Can't believe he said this release was perfect so many times and that the grain was ruining his experience... He sure has low quality standards. :|

GokuT23 is one of the worst channels when it comes to dragon ball. He actually believes the new blu rays are the best the show has ever looked......righto.
It is clear that sometime in Mark Satan's life, he acquired the dragon balls and called upon shenlong to grant him immortality.

Agree the cropping is a problem enough to make this release less than perfect, then the removal and grain altering the colors

My Grades just by Film Quality
Dragon Ball Z Kai A+
Dragon Box Z A-
Dragon Ball Z Level Sets A
Season Sets B-
Orange Brick D

I'd have the same scores for those releases, but I'd rate the new blu rays lower then a B-.

I really hope that Funimation adds that voice filter back on Android 19 and they fix were Goku Kamehameha'd Cell. because they wasn't in the Orange Bricks.

Also I gotta disagree with the above ^
For me it's
level sets
Dragon-boxes
Kai
season sets
orange bricks.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

To Each their own i guess i was torn between a C+ and B- but considering how much better these are than the orange bricks I was generous. At least i can stand watching the show this time around with the season sets and have the bruce faulconer music for nostalgic purposes. Before it was **** this the nostalgic purposes of the Faulconer score isn't worth watching something that looks like shit!! LOL I prefer the Kikuchki score though

Really Interesting why is Kai worse than the other two explain if you get rid of the jarring new animated scenes the kai film looks the best the series has ever looked and is color accurate. And as far as it goes the only one that is placed different on your list then mine is Kai which is very interesting.

I wouldn't really know since I never watch the english dub, but I can see your point for nostalgic purposes.

Best to worst imho:

Dragon Ball Z Kai Remaster -- A plus
Dragon Ball Z JP Dragon Box Z -- A
Dragon Ball Z US Dragon Box Z -- A minus (video compression)
Dragon Ball Z Level BDs -- A minus (over-saturated, detail loss)
Dragon Ball Z Singles -- C
Dragon Ball Z Season BDs -- D (too yellow, brightness is unbalanced and they decapitated Mr. Popo on the Ending)
Dragon Ball Z Orange Bricks -- E (although for Seasons 8 & 9 it'd get a C- from me)

It's not really that it's worse :P I just really like the level sets and Dragon-boxes quality more. and I know not all scenes look great in Kai. some look like they were made straight out of Microsoft paint. :P but some scenes look really good! but I dunno... :P

I would give the orange brick's an F. A BIG FAT F!

Hey question!
Someone told me that these new sets are ''selective cropping'' I only watched 2 episodes of season 1 because I'm going through the original series BUT! I did notice in the intro you get to see the tops of the characters heads unlike the orange bricks but does anyone have any comparisons of how the orange bricks and these are cropped in different locations? ''selective'' :P
