Kai has both two TV airings and DVD/BluRay releases, that's extra revenue for Funimation. No reason they wouldn't put some love and support into Kai.

They likely want to make the announcement a surprise (a false hope, but they have the contracts, they can make the actors pretend they haven't dubbed anything).

As you can see, Chris did see my message, but chose not to reply (could be an NDA) though he did reply to me last year shortly after Sean Schemmel & Kyle Hebert made their "announcements".
Madman, I'm not sure they know anything to be honest.

Take Care!
This is not a good idea, they're not gonna give out any information that wasn't made public. It's gonna be dubbed, the international audience is basically why the Boo arc got the Kai treatment. Just wait and stop pestering the voice actors.

Madman have already dropped the ball numerous times, but it looks like there has been a big hand out of knuckle-wrapping across the industry whereby all official parties have been told to keep silent about it until a set date.

What's clear is that pestering people for responses isn't going to yield anything affirmative at this time - as even on an 'off-the-record' basis, guys like Sabat know from experience that anything they say is going to be published widely by fans, and is only going to come back to bite them at a later date.

It's also worth keeping in mind that no one is actually retracting anything they've said earlier, just saying conflicting things or being entirely non-committal. None of the voice actors who confirmed it to begin with have actually came out and said: "I was wrong, ignore what I said previously" - they've not even addressed any previous comments as if they were never made or don't exist.

To me, that's telling.

It could be that I'm just hearing what I want to hear, but to me, the way they worded those responses strongly suggest that they know the answers to the questions they're being asked and that they're just honoring their NDAs by not telling anyone (which is fine, not blaming them at all).
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:

Considering all they're going to do is an upscale or rushed remasterisation so we won't encounter the issue of seeing Goku looking like Gohan, but still can anyone tell the difference from Goku (centre in the picture) and the figure below it.

Majin Boo Kai poster
Gohan Super Saiyan figure
Even Gotens and Trunks have the same issue, facially they look not very different regardless that their parents aren't related.

To be honest I like that figure (although not a figure collector) but it was only used in this comparison to show that the artists have become unable to distinguish Goku from Gohan.

Anyway, only 23 days left until Majin Boo arc.

Granted the Kai poster is slightly off-model, but that's still pretty obviously Goku. I don't see what you're seeing.

(It also helps that Gohan is right next to him in a Gohan-specific outfit)

The first time I didn't even notice that Gohan was on the right side because that Goku just looks so much a lot as Gohan would in his Super Saiyan form. It's hard to tell when the designers make them so much alike.

If you were to ask someone they'd be confused whether that were Goku or Gohan.

Goku looks more like he has his Super Saiyan 2 hair, there. But seeing as Goku is the main character (Although some could argue Gohan is during this part of the story), it also makes sense that he's front row and centered.

I wasn't confused by this either. When I looked at the poster I saw Goku and knew it was Goku. I saw Gohan and knew it was Gohan.

Yeah, I didn't even notice the hair "issue" until people on here brought it up. I don't think I'm going to be getting new information through these forums anymore. It always serves to make things awkward and less enjoyable. Site it is.

I never had an issue with it, either. I don't tend to let others' issues impede on my own enjoyment, though. Stick around. Or, at least, hop on Twitter with some of us.

Couple pages late, but I can support Shino Kakinuma as the new Videl voice. Thinking back to how she played Naru in Sailor Moon, I think the voice fits Videl pretty well (unfortunately, my mind's ear is now making me remember the dub voice of "Molly", and that's not a pleasant thought). Curious as to why she's choosing to take up voice acting roles again, since, despite having roles dating back to the 80s, she doesn't have a very extensive profile, and hasn't done a lot in the past few years. Did Toshio Furukawa just say to her "Hey, honey, want to come to work with me? There's this role I think you could play." :D
(Slightly off-topic musing: if Yuuko Minaguchi is still on hiatus when the [heavily delayed] Sailor Moon anime finally gets to the S part of the series, it means Sailor Saturn would also be recast...that's harder for me to accept than the Videl recasting :( )

There was talk on the recent podcast how lots of popular actors from the 90s had minor roles in DBZ, and how they might have such stunt casting again for today's big names. Mamoru Miyano was mentioned, and...mmm, I hope they stunt cast the fuck out of him. Ever since Kai started 5 years ago, I've wanted him to be in it somehow. Make him some random dude at the Tenkaichi Budoukai, I don't care! I want his voice inside my ears.

I also wonder if their big stunt casting "get" from before (Aya Hirano) will return as Dende. Has it already been confirmed somewhere whether she's returning or not?

I'm not sure I'd call Miyano Mamoru stunt-casting, he's a certifiable actor. He's a popular actor, but no more so than Furuya Tooru and Suzuoki Hirotaka were when they were cast as Yamcha and Tenshinhan.

I guess I just used "stunt casting" since that's the term that was thrown out on the podcast. Certainly I'm not using it to diminish the talent of the actors being discussed, since I (mostly) enjoy Aya Hirano, and LOVE Mamoru Miyano. They're the types who usually play lead roles, but those kinds of roles are already filled with the cast from the previous version, so putting them in minor roles that could be probably played more cheaply by less well-known actors feels like it could be done mostly to bring more attention to the series. So maybe it's more "cameo appearance" rather than "stunt casting."

Who the heck would Mamoru Miyano even play? Sharpner? Jewel?

(Maybe he'll pop up in Heroes, if Miyu Irino is the "Hero" character there...)

As far as I know nothing has been confirmed, but it's very likely she will return considering she played Dende in Battle of Gods last year. Of course seeing as Yuko Minaguchi isn't returning, BoG may not be the best example; however we all know that Minaguchi's a special case due to her location abroad. More than likely Aya Hirano will return as Dende.
