I'm at a loss for words on this one. 57 is WAY too young still. And she always came across IRL as one of the most youthful and vibrant people among the Japanese cast.
Tsuru, like the rest of the Dragon Ball voice cast, was an industry veteran and has a CV chock full of an impossibly dizzying array of classic, milestone anime and memorable roles.
Space Adventure Cobra, Arcadia of My Youth, Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Kinnikuman, Cat's Eye, Maison Ikkoku, Saint Seiya, Kimagure Orange Road, Dominion Tank Police, Demon City Shinjuku, City Hunter, Gall Force, Ranma 1/2, Devil Hunter Yohko, Ghost Sweeper Mikami, Silent Mobius, Trigun... Jesus fuck. The list just goes on and on and on and on.
Beyond just Bulma, my generation of anime fans will probably always remember her most fondly as Ukyo Kuonji, the hyper-manically enthusiastic and competitive kung fu chef from Ranma (and easily by far and away my favorite female character in that whole series); Leona Ozaki, the well-meaning and optimistic rookie officer and main character of Dominion Tank Police; Reiko Mikami, the money-minded, business-savvy title character of Ghost Sweeper Mikami; Sayoko Mano, the somewhat bitter and cringingly blunt mother of the title character in Devil Hunter Yohko; and Kiddy Phenil, the hardass, tougher than nails cyborg brawler from Silent Mobius.
Even just looking over some of her best known roles, she had a TON of incredible range as an actress. She was always an immense treat to listen to in every anime I've ever seen her show up in (which is an awful, awful, awful
lot) since as far back as I can remember.
This really, REALLY sucks. My heart goes out to her family and loved ones.
RIP

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.
