Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.
A cel from September at Anime Weekend Atlanta...got it for $20
Despite the incorrect background it was well worth $20 (the frame is just what I had lying around I still need to get it properly matted but it'll do for now)
Your collection is getting to the point where I am getting so jealous!
Great find on the cel! I was Saiyan saga cels but they're usually so expensive!
Thank you!! Yeah I was super stoked to find a Saiyan arc cel but on top of that it had the other parts I wanted: kinto-ūn and Piccolo!
I'm probably done buying cels although I have always wanted one of kid Goku from dragon ball as well as another Z era one of Freeza and Super Saiyan Goku, but I may not ever end up doing that cuz I'm grateful for what I've got.
"You might think you know everything there is to know about me, but really, you're not even CLOSE."
"Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." ~ Sir Winston Chruchill / Dragon Ball Z in a nutshell
How I enjoy the anime:
Spoiler:
I like to switch between the dub and the original. If I want to watch the original I'll watch it subbed on my Dragon Boxes.
If I want to watch it dubbed I'll watch the funimation singles and my dragon boxes for the other episodes in proper aspect ratio. Aside from the Vegeta arc I cannot stand the dub with the Japanese music, as it just does not mesh with the dub script and acting.
Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of the Kikuchi score and think it works perfectly with the Japanese cast...but the American audio in Z and Kai just sounds awful with it.
Kai is the only version of the dub I cannot watch whether it be Yamamoto's score or Kikuchii's ad hoc replacement. Until this forum I had not encountered a single person who preferred Kai to Z in terms of dub.

sounds like legit DBZ movies lol
lol those titles.
It'd have been nice if FUNimation had made Blu-ray Steelbooks too but it doesn't seem likely if they'll ever go to Steelbooks again, maybe for a special edition or such. Manga UK has been releasing limited print Blu-ray Steelbooks (Akira, GitS, Ninja Scroll, Bayonetta) but left out Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods which is a pity as it'd been a nice looking BD Steelbook.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128 Still recording Toonami broadcasts on VHS after all these years! #1 Paikuhan fan!
Oh my gawd the Dragon Ball Z Steelbooks are so cool! I'm disappointed that I missed out on pre-ordering when they were first coming out but now I've got some of them which are mostly in very good condition with a few dents and discoloured areas.

Comparison of BD Steelboox Vs. DVD Steelbook:
I'll be keeping them after all (I had thought of selling if they didn't satisfy me).
