Nitpick yeah, but more attention Toei

Still happy they didnt forget the main DB cast.

Actually, I think they actually tried to colour-correct and went crazy overboard. See, the Toei masters (as seen by the Dragon Boxes) typically look too pink. Pink is the absence of green (too much red and blue), so to counteract that, they added green to it to fix it... except they went too far, and now it's too green instead.Vegard Aune wrote:Seriously Toei. Color-correction. Why you not do any? Or okay, the answer to that is fairly obvious...

The Garlic Jr arc was enjoyable but it would have been better had Yamcha and Tenshinhan participated in the battle. Having Krillin, Yamcha, Tenshinhan, & Chaozu battle the four henchmen while Gohan & Piccolo took on the big bad would have been way more fun.JulieYBM wrote:I also think this is what made the Garlic Junior arc so interesting, too. It presented new scenarios we couldn't see in the original comic and played with them relatively well. At least one of the episodes were not quite as good as the others, but for the most part it was a solid enough story arc. I wish the Afterlife Tournament had received more attention to care when it was being written, it could have lasted much longer had the characters been fleshed out and Gokuu's own disadvantages in the face of warriors with hundreds of years of training been the focus of the arc.

Well in the case of this first episode at least, that might be the case. On the other hand, the color cast on the DBox varies from episode to episode, and I mean, the Boo-arc did always have a lot of episodes with a really strong green tint to them... So yeah, either they overcompensated for the lack of green, (Kinda reminds me of the Japanese DVD of Spirited Away and how they went and turned the red-levels up to the point where everything that was meant to be white ended up blatantly pink instead. I still don't get how on earth anyone could look at that and say "Yup, this looks perfectly acceptable!") or the film has just deteriorated even further since they made the DBox-masters which is why these episodes are even more heavily tinted than those... Or alternately I suppose it could be a bit of both.Puto wrote:Actually, I think they actually tried to colour-correct and went crazy overboard. As far as I know, they're still sticking to their guns and saying that they have no plans to dub this arc at all.Eternal Super Saiyan wrote:Are there US airing dates for Buu Saga Kai yet? I understand when Kai started in 2009 it wasn't until 12 or 13 months later before reaching US... but to my knowledge, Funimation already did voice acting last year? Hopefully not too long!
Do they have to wait for the japanese broadcast to end or are they free to air it when they please?Valerius Dover wrote:As far as I know, they're still sticking to their guns and saying that they have no plans to dub this arc at all.Eternal Super Saiyan wrote:Are there US airing dates for Buu Saga Kai yet? Would assume the staff are all busy with other things.qjz123 wrote:Why isn't the episode 100 discussion unlocked yet?
I wrote:Hideyuki Tanaka is the one who placed the score in the original TV series of Hokuto No Ken and he's usually good. A person who has never been involved in the DB franchise suddenly got hired to immediately place the pieces of music which are very limited.. I can't blame him. In addition, episodes done by Tanaka generally aren't that bad. The real poorly-done episodes are those which done by Satoshi Motoyama.coola wrote:That`s it, these guys, Hideyuki Tanaka and Nagasaki really got talent, not only they killed Dragon Ball Kai, but they made Kikuchi score look bad, i will be sure to not touch any anime where they got involved
Guess he's gettin thrown up there with Barry Watson and Bruce Faulconer.JulieYBM wrote:Ah, there we go. Now we know who to crucify.
Zero experience? What are you talking about? He's been a sound director for over a decade, and he was even in charge of music placement for dozens of episodes of the Kikuchi version of Kai. Also, being new to the franchise cannot be an excuse here because this is a new show with a newly written score. It's not that we're complaining about an old score being used differently than it was in Z. Motoyama is just absolutely bad. He's even less talented than infamous Nagasaki.Flame Dragon wrote:Come on, don't be so harsh on the poor guy. It's not his fault he got selected for this job that he had zero experience with.
For someone that didn't even know what DBZ is, i throught he did a decent job.
He spammed a lot of tracks over and over, but at least most other tracks fitted the scenes quite well in my opinion.

Music has been, and always will be the hugest drawback of Kai.
