We aren't guaranteed to get anything DBZ anyhow. When they say "from Akira to Dragon Ball Z" that's just them plucking two names out of the air.

What else could they announce ?DBZ_Lee wrote:We aren't guaranteed to get anything DBZ anyhow. When they say "from Akira to Dragon Ball Z" that's just them plucking two names out of the air.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Other licenses. More broadcast dubs perhaps?. It's latest news and information, that covers pretty much any of their current licenses.sintzu wrote:What else could they announce ?DBZ_Lee wrote:We aren't guaranteed to get anything DBZ anyhow. Yup, I just checked and they unf, they say that at every conDBZ_Lee wrote:We aren't guaranteed to get anything DBZ anyhow. When they say "from Akira to Dragon Ball Z" that's just them plucking two names out of the air.

Anyway, It's getting pretty late here, so I hopefully I will wake up to some news about Final Chapters (and news about Fairy Tail would be sweet too)!!! Please FUNi!

Re: The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
I can't wait for the English dub of Buu kai. The Japanese version has been underwhelming so far and the only thing that can save it is a kai caliber dub. I want to see how they handle the scenes compared to the original Z dub.

Re: The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
The Japanese version is nice because now I can actually experience these scenes without it being "talking through a paper tube" mono. Like you, though, I'm excited to hear what the FUNi cast is going to bring to the table in Buu Kai! The Buu Z stuff is acceptable to most people, but I know that nowadays they can do so much more!MajinMan wrote:I can't wait for the English dub of Buu kai. Re: The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
I'm a bit confused. Isn't the reason people on Kanzenshuu hate Kai 2.0 because of the crap remastering process Toei did on it? I don't see how a mere English dub by FUNimation can save it unless they went in and did some additional remastering themselves...
Re: The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
The Z dub isn't the best so a new dub can go a long way especially with them cutting out the filler that contradicts and drags the story.SpiritBombTriumphant wrote:I'm a bit confused. Re: The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
Kanzenshuu isn't a hivemind. We don't have an "official opinion" on anything. Plenty of us are looking forward to FUNi's resub of this material because it'll be a huge improvement on the Z dub. Green tint, redrawn scenes, cropping, etc. are just things we may have to put up with when we get it, but it'll still be exciting.SpiritBombTriumphant wrote:I'm a bit confused. There are minor differences in color between the Japanese DVD, Japanese Blu-ray, US DVD, and US Blu-ray releases of the first 98 episodes of Kai. We might luck out and get a better looking picture tha. The fansubs that are going around online.
Re: The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
I'm looking forward to fixing the colours and putting Kikuchi back in. I won't watch anything with that dreadful music; especially when its placement is so poor, too.
That's not something I can overlook, unlike colours and cropping.

^ See, the Kikuchi score is something that would have ruined the whole saga for me. Preferences and all...
Thank God they didn't keep going with it (they could have, out of laziness). It should have never been brought back again to begin with, and hopefully, we'll never hear it ever again.
It belongs to the 90s and should stay there.

I think perhaps this will be another false alarm, but you never know. Justin Rojas, (Sr. Manager of Social Strategy for FUNi) Seán Schemmel & Christopher Sabat will be hosting a panel discussing 25 years of DBZ from this coming weekend's C2E2 Expo in Chicago.

Dare I say, could we finally get our announcement?.

^I don't know, I wouldn't get my hopes up. It says that it's a nostalgic talk, so the new stuff it'll focus on will likely be Resurrection F as it says there.

Re: The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
At this point, I think they will announce it during or after the Japanese broadcast completion. And they will probably aim for a October/November release. That's just what I think is gonna happen. I could be wrong though. We'll just have to wait and see.DBZ_Lee wrote:I think perhaps this will be another false alarm, but you never know. Re: The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
I've just come across something very interesting in relation to the upcoming French Blu Ray release due out 20th May.
Publisher Kazé's official listing for the first set of "The Final Chapters" has the aspect ratio down at 4:3:
http://anime.kaze.fr/produit/box_3_4_dr ... l_z_kai_br
This is odd, as they have the first 2 sets listed at 16:9. I assume this is because they are simply re-releasing the AB Groupes' production.
So, in a matter of weeks, we should have official confirmation that a 4:3 version does exist, so when FUNi release theirs, they can do so in 4:3, just like the first 98

Re: The International Version of the Buu-Kai Arc
If we do get a 4:3 version, that might explain why the cropping is done the way it is. And it also might explain why they bothered to give the Japanese cut a sharpness filter while the international version is left as is in that regard, as the Japanese cut had to be 16:9 for today's standards. And Toei had to condense the episode count, and they wouldn't bother to take the 4:3 version, re-crop it, and condense the episodes, while they already have a 16:9 version ready. But I still don't think a 4:3 version is available. If it is indeed produced, Funimation would no doubt receive the 4:3 masters.DBZ_Lee wrote:I've just come across something very interesting in relation to the upcoming French Blu Ray release due out 20th May.
