The episode aired a while ago, so I should be safe to post!

This week's episode was okay. It went at a very speedy pace and had some scenes that I liked, such as Bulma using the scouter. By the end of the episode Piccolo had destroyed the moon and given Gohan his Goku-like gi and sword.

What interests me most is the next episode preview. It looks like Goku will arrive at Kaio's planet in episode 6, which was roughly episode 18 in Z. Now that's moving more speedily!

Interestingly, in the manga, the scene with Chichi arriving and Bulma working on the scouter happens after the final shot in this episode, where Goku is asleep on Serpent Road. So it seems like it covered roughly 2 chapters, with a bit from the next one, but in a different order.

Edit: Oh, I almost forgot. There were new eyecatches (one with Kaio). And the One Piece/Dragon Ball thing was Gohan and Chopper on Kinto'un this time, which was cute. Hopefully someone uploads it to youtube so I can show my friend.

Yay, no Princess Snake filler, luckily Goku fell, but quickly got back up. I think this makes it safe to assume that there won't be large filler arcs like Garlic Jr.

Kind of a double edged sword, really. Sure, Garlic Jr. might be gone, but some of the halfway decent filler (Including my personal favorite sidearc, The Saiyaman Arc) will probably be cut as well.

You mean Gohan's super hero alter ego? Why would that be deleted, it's part of the manga

I honestly can't remember, it's been a while since I watched the series, I mostly just read the manga over and over again

And that's what I fear will be deleted. I don't want to see ANY of that get cut.

I'm not quite sure how to respond to "Goku wearing a bra"....not that he hasn't hasn't worn lingerie in the series before, but....

Anyways! I'm thrilled that we got new eyecatchers for this episode. And I enjoyed some of the Piccolo and Gohan music. X3

WHAT?! New eyecatch! Was the music for it any different? I was out with friends all evening, and haven't gotten a chance to watch this episode yet, so were any other the other main-layout themes (intro jingle, OP/ED, next-episode-preview tune, etc.) changed? Thanks!!

The eyecatch is now Bulma, Kuririn, Umigame, and Master Roshi on one side, and then Goku, Bubbles, and Kaio-sama on the other. The shots of Goku firing attacks were kept though. And its the same eyecatch music from before.

I have no idea about the OP/ED, etc; as the copy I watched didn't include them at all. I'm guessing if/when they do change those, it'll be after the current arc. :3

Yes. Because the rest of the series is high-brow intellectualism at its finest.

On the topic of this episode specifically, am I the only one who thinks a lot of musical cues just felt really really off? Especially in the first half of the episode, when the opening instrumental played and after the whole apple bit. The transformation scene starts out okay and then morphs into something...that I don't know what exactly it's supposed to be. That looping...brass? bit when piccolo talked before and for a bit after using the clothes beam.

When it wasn't being horribly jarring, it was just kind of "there".

I'm not a very audio person. Most of Kai's music has just sort of been 'there' for me so far, although I liked some of the parts from episode...3 or 4, I forget which.

To me, the music hasn't been jarring enough for me to notice it, but it hasn't been neat enough for me to notice either.

For episodes 1-4, a lot of the music has been "there" for me. I really liked the song they played for Goku's death, and I didn't like the music they used when Gohan exploded out of the pod. So the good/bad just kind of evened out into a nice grey mesh of generally not noticing the music.

But this episode, for some reason, just seemed to throw out a bunch of music that didn't feel like it fit.
