Shoko Nakagawa Does More Dragonball Covers

Post by Suupaa Gohan 2 » Fri Apr 02, 2010 11:16 am

I remember a while back, Japanese idol singer Shoko Nakagawa did a cover of the original Dragonball ending theme, ROMANTIKKU Ageru Yo!, and I announced it here, and I think it got posted on the main site as well, so I thought I'd bring this to the attention of anyone who might be interested. Shoko has released another album of Anime cover songs, and included are the first DBZ ending theme Detekoi!! Tobikiri ZENKAI Power as well as DBGT's opening DAN DAN Kokoro Hikarete'ku. The album is called Shokotan Cover 3 - Anisong wa Jinrui o Tsunagu.
Complete track listing is as follows:

1.Angel Night ~Tenshi no Iru Basho~ (Angel Night ~天使のいる場所~) (original: PSY・S)
2.GOD KNOWS... (original: Hirano Aya)
3.Seikan Hikou (星間飛行) (original: Nakajima Megumi)
4.Yuzurenai Negai (ゆずれない願い) (original: Tamura Naomi)
5.Sobakasu (そばかす) (original: JUDY AND MARY)
6.Ame ni Kiss no Hanabata wo (雨にキッスの花束を) (original: Imai Miki)
7.Hohoemi no Bakudan (微笑みの爆弾) (original: Mawatari Matsuko)
8.Tokimeki no Doukasen (ときめきの導火線) (original: Konno Yukari)
9.Give a reason (original: Hayashibara Megumi)
10.Tamashii no Refrain (魂のルフラン) (original: Takahashi Yoko)
11.Detekoi Tobikiri ZENKAI Power! (でてこいとびきりZENKAIパワー!) (original: MANNA)
12.Precure 5, Full Throttle GO GO! (プリキュア5、フル・スロットル GO GO!) (original: Kudo Mayu with Precure 5)
13.DAN DAN Kokoro Hikareteku -short ver.- (DAN DAN 心魅かれてく) (original: FIELD OF VIEW) (CD+DVD bonus track)
14.Don't say "lazy" -short ver.- (original: Sakurakou K-ON Bu) (CD+DVD bonus track)
15.Moonlight Densetsu -short ver.- (ムーンライト伝説) (original: DALI) (CD+DVD bonus track)

18.DON'T YOU...? -short ver.- (original: Horie Mitsuko) (CD+DVD bonus track)

I haven't heard either for myself yet, but I thought I'd share the news with you guys.

It goes without saying that I totally just ordered the ultra special edition, right...? Right?!

Going from the samples on the Neowing pages, the cover of "ZENKAI Power" sounds... well... like a decent cover. Not a whole lot I can say about it just yet. The cover of "DAN DAN...", though, sounds perfect for her. I think Sakai's performance of the song nails it more than anything else (of course, having been involved in the actual writing of the song sure does help...), but I think "Shokotan" has the right tone and delivery for it this time 'round. Makes me really wish it wasn't just a short version... :(

What does it mean by "short version"? Like the TV-size versions?

Wow, Mike, I didn't know you were a Shoko-tan otaku! :)

Seriously, this sounds like fun.

Izumi-san's cover of Dan Dan is going to be tough to beat.

Yeah I think so. What else could it mean?

I'm not. I dislike almost everything about her and what she embodies.

This is an automatic purchase not because of her, but because it contains DB material. Seriously, it's not as if I like having tons of things like Shoko Nakagawa and Hitomi Kitamura CDs in my collection :(. CDJapan keeps sending me all these special "Idol" newsletters thinking I'm creepy...

Sorry If I come of as rude, but why would you buy a whole album just for two cover songs?

Because I have the disposable income to do stuff like that (well, that and the referral points help a lot) and run a website about the series and love its music.

We've been reviewing every single last bit of DB-related music in recent history, especially since the podcast started in 2005 which gave us a better opportunity to discuss/hear/share/listen/etc. along with the music, itself.

I discovered this site about 4 months ago and I don't even listen to the podcast, so I don't know much about your DB Music reviewing habits.
