I actually really like the new ending song and animation. I'm surprised because I'm not a huge fan of Japanese idols. At this point Z had 2 different opening animations right?

I still like "Zenkai Power" better than either Kai ED. Very peppy and upbeat, and very much reflecting the attitude of Gohan through most of that period of the show.

But the new OP I like a little better than "Yeah! Break! Care! Break!", at least, even if it still isn't the type of song I associate with DBZ.

This isn't Dragon Ball Z, it's Dragon Ball Kai. It works pretty hard to set itself a part from it, I'd say.

Uh, no it doesn't. It's just a slightly repackaged DBZ.

I prefer to see it as it is: A tribute to 20 years of DBZ.

Actually, there was an opening animation that was used in Z for something like the first 20 episodes (really just a couple of slightly different shots), then they scrapped it for the one that came to be more familiar as the Saiyan/Freeza arc OP. It was also used in Dead Zone.

I have no sound right now, but I like how the new ED is basically a slide show, but it's flashy about it to distract you from almost no animation(Goku's and Shenron's hair fluttering; sliding DBK stripe).

I haven't seen the episode yet, but thoughts on the new animation:
OP - I really like the part with Gohan standing ontop of the palace/house at sunrise. That part impressed me. None of the clips I've seen so far have shown the very end of the OP though; it always freezes on this hilariously agitated Vegeta with his mouth wide open, then skips over to the sponsor image. I'm positive the opening doesn't end on that. XD


ED - Wow does this sound like it should be the ED to a shoujo-esque slice-of-life series. It's cute, but seems ill-fitting. I mean, Zenkai Power is a cute song too, but it at least includes instruments that fit better in with Z's background music. I think this ED used about the same amount of animation as Yeah Break Care Break did, so I'm not overly surprised by that.

Sadly for me, aside from that bit with Gohan in the OP, there weren't that many choice avatar possibilities here. I was hoping to find something to use from the new animation, but nothing stands out to me.
