Its great and easily matches or exceeds the original DBZ score in quality.
Oh god, my sides hurt from laughing.

The Yamamoto score for Kai is largely generic and unambitious. It would be fine if I were just listening to it in a video game, but Kikuchi's score dwarfs it in scale and quality. Half the time I feel like I'm listening to the soundtrack to Pokémon.

I enjoy a few tracks, but even Yamamoto's contributions to Z are exponentially better.
Dude, a simple 'I prefer Yamamoto's music' would have been better than sounding obnoxious.

You also stated your opinion as it was fact so...

Anyway, I prefer the original music. This kai music doesn`t follow the action very well. In Z, when Trunks slashes Freeza the music changes, building suspense.

In kai, I think this wasn`t done as well as it was done in Z.

Besides that, I think that the original music and the kai music sound good as stand alone music pieces but I prefer the original music.

:( This episode was so disappointing. I know that when Trunks turned Super Saiyan in this episode everyone I guess played 'Battle Point Unlimited' in their heads . The music did not match up with what was happening. I hope they do some improvements now that the Artificial Human arc will begin.

Having refreshed my memory (haven't seen 'Z' in years), I like both. They have massively different feels to them, but I think they both fit perfectly.

It's not just the music though I find that the Kai scene is a lot better paced.
I think going straight to a cliffhanger after the first slice in 'z' was a mistake.
You have built up all this momentum and then you have to wait for the next episode just to see the finishing blow.

Whereas with Kai its 'Slice, slash/slash/slash, boom, Freeza is dust'.
You don't lose the momentum, its fast and brutal, leaving you no chance to catch your breath.

Well that's my two cents anyway. :D

I liked both, but I preferred Kai's pace over "Z" for this scene anyway.

Honestly, it seems to me like everyone's going into this with the same mentality they went into Goku's Super Saiyan transformation. The music used in Kai's scene was fine. Especially considering they used a NEW SCORE. It still felt mysterious, yet triumphant during Freeza's death.

Honestly, I'm more surprised that we're not talking about how much of an eyesore the animation was for the final half of the episode. It was always such a disappointment getting such an awesome looking episode in Z, then when the next one kicked in, it looked god awful. Also worth noting how they left the gaping hole in a dead henchman Freeza impaled in Z, but didn't in Kai.

I don't remember that at all. It definitly didn't happen in the manga.

He actually said he preferred Kikuchi's score.
