Why hasn't Deus ex Machina been warned/banned?
'Lo all...
I've been a lurker here since... well, since the forum started. I've never posted before, but that's mostly because I don't have the time to keep up with discussions. Anyway, as you can guess from the topic title, I'm not posting because I'm joining the discussions, I'm posting because of something that's been, quite frankly, disgusting to me. I want to know why the heck Deus' avatars have been allowed. They've featured rape, incest, pedophilia, etc... Am I the only person who has a problem with that? Especially on a forum that's open to kids?
In the forum rules, it states "Needless to say, no porn in your avatars, please. Keep them tasteful."
I'm really sick of seeing Deus' latest perversity of the week in each message thread.

Quite frankly, they haven't crossed the line. It's all implied from the editing. Unless you're familiar with the original images they come from it's generally hard to tell what they are in their full context... in which case, that's your own business.
This forum is "open to kids," sure. But so is the entire rest of the web. That's where one of those things called "parenting" comes into play.
You're always welcome to just not visit the forum. That's your own personal choice.

laserkid - There's the Bulma/Bra one, for example. One person commented about it being mother/daughter weirdness and Deus didn't say that's not what it was. There's the young Bra one with bare breasts covered. The current one (along with that #18 one) implies that Bulma isn't a willing participant in whatever's going on. So yeah, those aren't innocent.
Zackarotto - What do post counts have to do with it? He may consider it fooling around, but not everyone appreciates that sort of 'humor.'
VegettoEX - Implication isn't much different, especially when he's admitted what they are (which isn't hard to figure out on one's own).
Concerning children... Dragon Ball is aimed at children, and so is DaizEX by extension (not exclusively, of course, but a large portion of the visitors are underage). And, concerning the web being open, it's illegal to have innapropriate materials within childrens' access. While his avatars may not show everything, they show enough to be innapropriate.

Greetings and salutations my Ticked friend. To think you've been lurking here since the board opened, but only joined to personally address me, I'm honored.
I will have to disagree with you on 2 points however, my avatars have never contained any incest or pedophilia, not even implied. The supposed "Bra/Bulma" picture was infact just two Bulma's (one adult, and one teenage), which I explained over on IRC at the time...since we're not supposed to stray off topic to discuss avatars.
I admit I walk a fine line sometimes, but I have the common sense and maturity to not cross it. My avatars are never anything but suggestive, and if people have a problem with that...well, they have a choice not to look at them. I never go any further than the DragonBall series itself ever did, and infact the show had two scenes of partial nudity on Bulma, so if anything I'm LESS suggestive than the show itself.
By the way, thanks for bringing this up. I just remembered it's time to change it again.

I guess Viz was right all along, then. Time to censor everything DragonBall-related!
In all seriousness, the fact that you are personally offended simply means you need to stop visiting the board. Change the radio station, turn off the TV, go to a different website.

Re: Why hasn't Deus ex Machina been warned/banned?
It's not like Deus' avatars blatantly scream incest or rape. They may imply it but they can also imply other things like massages or a barbeque. They can be a lot of things, it's up to your imagination. If your imagination happens to be in the gutter that isn't Deus' fault is it?Ticked wrote:They've featured rape, incest, pedophilia, etc...
Ticked has a good point. I woulda said something before he did...
....but I like Deus and so does everyone else on this board. If it bothers you that much then you are always welcomed to leave. When people are offended by something they avoid it. Don't walk right into the line of fire if you don't want to get shot.
No, they are not being raped. Women kinda make those faces when you're satisfying them.
As for the children part, kids shouldn't be on the internet unless they are supervised. Parental supervision is the reason why things are so fucked up in Amercia as it is. If parents were to have some balls and dictate what their offspring do (to an extent of course) then we would not have to worry about a seven year-old stumbling across a picture of implied sexuality.
Yes, it is implied;
Implied

2.To express or indicate indirectly
Indirect dammit! As in not direct. If it were direct then I would see some titties. Titties dammit! All I get is cleavage and women's faces. His avatars have as much sexual content as a cartoon women's leg. As when a famale would stick her leg out to stop a car. If you find that to be offensive then boycott cartoon's, television, videos games, and the whole shabang. And I have to warn you:
You will not win. If you don't win that arguement then you won't win this one. Therefore making this thread and any of your previous and upcoming posts irrelavent. I am just trying to save you a whole thread of flaming. Trust me.
Inconclusion, hop off.

Pft, Dragonball is for kids yes, of japanese culture. In our western culture. Chibi Son Goku in the buff would be "Oh no! Delete/censor this!" For that matter, we've had Buruma(or Oolong posing as her) with the odd private part showing as well. So yeah.. I'd say they're going less far than the DB manga even.
And 'sides, showing only a bit, and not everything, leaving things to the imagination can be more exciting than just outright showing it... but that doesn't work in Deus' defence now does it? >.>;;

Clearly, you've missed the point. Post count has nothing to do with it, but maybe the amount of contribution does? You aren't going to turn around and ban a person for an avatar, not after they've given you ideas to ponder and have helped out with requests and questions. And maybe that's not even the point, exactly...Ticked wrote:Zackarotto - What do post counts have to do with it?
The point is that the most you could accomplish with this whining would be a slight revision in the rules, and that's a waste of time for all of us. Besides, look what way of thinking Deus has brought us! We can't even look at a picture of Pan, with a shirt on, without knowing something is up. Way to keep us on our toes.
I'd like to direct you to the newest article by everyone's favorite writer, Seanbaby. Here.
Deus may be a pervert, but he's our pervert. Besides, what's wrong with a little skin? Maybe reading 20 volumes of Ranma 1/2 will desensitize you to the effects of inactive boobies. Maybe I'm the wrong person to ask about that.

There is a lot of nudity and sexual references in Dragon Ball, so it's certainly not something I'd want my kids to read/watch.
Also, wouldn't it have been better if this beef of yours was PMed directly to EX instead of making this a public message? You're only asking to get yourself flamed.

Indeed. Ticked, you're talking about a forum about a series that has an old man collecting porno magazines. (Yes, I'm talkin' 'bout you, Roshi! )Mattias wrote:There is a lot of nudity and sexual references in Dragon Ball, so it's certainly not something I'd want my kids to read/watch.

Because Kaio-Ken just doesn't cut it anymore.
