Orange Brick DVD Ads on Nicktoons

Post by SRB2Unleashed » Thu Jun 16, 2011 2:44 pm

I'm surpised no one posted this yet, but watching Nicktoons yesterday I was surprised to not only see a commercial for Transformers: Beast Wars but a commercial for all 9 Dragon Ball Z DVDS (It was the orange bricks FUNimation set) Piccolo was doing the narration and it used footage from the Trunks, Android and Kid Buu Sagas (Probably more but the clips started to go by super fast at one point) Is this commercial possibly an old one? Most likely, not. At first I was expecting it to be a commercial for Kai Part 5, which would make more sense IMO, but it was the Orange Brick Set.

Feedback anyone?

On Nicktoons? Maybe Funi wants to advertise the Buu saga for after Kai ends, but except for using the Dboxes, they use the Bricks. Does anyone have a clip of this?

I'm not sure, the first time I saw this was yesterday, but I was thinking the same thing about the Buu saga. I'll ask AniNation if his DVR will get a recording of this.

They said there's a sale, but I can't find said sale anywhere.

In a way it's pretty cool in my opinion. It makes the Dragon Boxes feel like they're more rare since I don't think the advertisement has ever been done on TV before. But yeah it is a bit weird.

I rarely see commercials for DVDs on TV, and out of that "rarely," none of those commercials are ever for anime. Very strange. If anything, you'd think they'd be pimping out the Kai DVDs :/...

What sale? I go on the website and click on the huge Orange Brick banner but it just redirects me to dragonballz.com. I know they're the orange bricks, but I might buy one just for kicks.

I may have figured this one out... but it's not very exciting. If you go to Rightstuf, all nine season sets are on sale in their weekly sale listing for $20.99. Not much of a sale, considering some of these sets have gone for less at various times.

How did they advertise the series in the commercial? After all, it's going to confuse the crap out of all the kids who only know Kai.

DBZ as it was meant to be seen (by people with bad taste)!

Found the commercial on YouTube. Its Called " Dragon Ball Z Season Sets New Trailer!(Now At A Low Price!)" I would link it but I'm on my PS3 currently.

Its apparently an old commercial from last year

Maybe FUNimation is still trying to milk the Season Sets to get extra stock out of the way?

At my local bestbuy there's no dragon boxes but PLENTY of season sets. They're definitely actively making them.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
They would because sadly, we're in the minority. Most people like Dragon Ball Z with the Bruce Faulconer OST and the Funi voices. :(

"Most people" don't know or care what the music is or how the video is presented.

These are cheap sets that are still in production. The end :).
