Dragon Ball: Saiyajin no Isan (fangame by Treevax)
Nostal/Treevax (the French fan who gave a bunch of interesting fan-wish sheets for an hypotetical Raging Blast 3 to Spike/Namco representatives) has been creating a simple RPG style DB/Z/GT/Movies/Specials 2D fangame called Dragon Ball: Saiyajin no Isan (Dragon Ball: Legacy of the Saiyans).
The game will be in 2D, with HD graphics. There will be several different gameplay styles:
-> 2D exploration and dialogues
-> RPG duels
-> Melee battles (1 vs 100)
-> Free Roam (exploration of the planets)
-> Mini games (Battle in the sky with Kinto-un, battles against giants, etc...)
It will cover the 42 mangas, Dragon Ball GT and the movies and OVA/OAVs (including the Jump Special, Plan to Erradicate the Super Saiyans, Episode of Bardock and Battle of Gods).
It won't cover any fillers from DB/Z though (so no Garlic Jr. Saga or Ano Yo-ichi Budokai, but Garlic Jr. and Paikuhan will show up in the movies).
Treevax has finished the second tankobon, he's doing the training with Kame Sennin now.

He updates regularly the facebook page I posted in the first post with new screens, infos and character sprites so if you want to follow this in more detail just visit that page. He may be showing a video of the game soon, he just has been having trouble finding a good and free recording software that records in HD.

I was wondering when someone would make a thread about this. Yeah, it looks like another really great fan endeavour from him, I'll play it. No secret that it's going to take him forever to finish, though XD

look very awesome!!
Re: Dragon Ball: Saiyajin no Souzoku (fangame by Treevax)
Whilst this looks great I really don't like the fact that you can't save your game and that all the content is available from the start, just seems kind of redundant for a player like me who enjoys unlocking content.

This was added to the Facebook page today. Some frames for the boss battle against Oozaru Goku (in Pilaf's castle).
As said by Treevax:
As said by Treevax:
Work in progress - Oozaru frames
Unlike for the "classical" characters, I don't have any sprite reference for the giants. I have to totally create the postures, it's much more difficult...
Then I'm sorry if the quality is less good than the rest of the project, I'm doing the best I can.
It's a giant boss battle, indeed! The player will control Yamcha. You need to survive until Puerh cuts Gokû's tail

Looks nice, but the Japanese title sounds very funny. It sounds like a succession struggle game. Saiyajin no Isan would be much better.

A "narrative picture" (from the slideshow cutscenes) from the next section (Shu steals the Dragon Balls):

Thanks for the observation, Kei17. I must admit I have used the worst way to create the title: an internet french/japanese translator. I didn't have any better way to make it when I did.kei17 wrote:Looks nice, but the Japanese title sounds very funny. It sounds like a succession struggle game. Saiyajin no Isan would be much better.
Then, the word "ISAN" is better to talk about the legacy of an entire race? If so, I will make the correction on the title screen, main menu screen and Facebook group.
I'm looking forward to your answer! ^_^

Very nice indeed. I'll be playing when it comes out.
Why isn't this in the Video Game section?

Because it's fan made, rather than official.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Why isn't this in the Video Game section?
Now why can't more of the official games look this good (concept wise I mean)? That's what I want to know.

Yeah, isan definitely is better suited for "the legacy of an entire race". Souzoku is a law term that refers to "descent".Treevax wrote:Thanks for the observation, Kei17. Changed the name of the thread and put the link to the new FB page.
By the way guys, anybody knows any FREE recording software that records in HD with good quality and sound? (I suppose you couldn't find any yet, Treevax, right?)
A new picture (Kamehameha) from the FB page:
The Oozaru Boss sprites:
And two chapter illustrations (recolored Tankobon covers) for the chapter select screen - for chapter 1 ('Son Gokû') and chapter 2 ('The Kamehameha'):

Methinks it's because the game devs wouldn't expect something like this to sell.Gyt Kaliba wrote:

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

I could see this totally selling a lot for iPhone/Android mobiles and maybe even for the portable consoles.
