Did Akira Toriyama Need More Variety When Drawing Faces?

Honestly, the noses and mouths were done so simply, that it was almost impossible to make everyone look distinct. AT resorted to eyes and hair to tell people apart. The eyes are the same for many people too. The Son family has the "non-connected" eyes, while everyone else has similar eyes. I honestly believe that he put scars on Yamucha's face so that people wouldn't confuse him with the adult version of Goku. Every now and then, you had characters that had the "bump" eyebrows like Piccolo, or cheekbones like Nappa, or the needle nose like Nappa and Muten Roshi, but honestly, how many different types of faces could you make when you're drawing a simple-looking character? It's not like there was a ton of detail and shading going into it. So I think it's fine, we can all tell them apart (granted, by hair).
