Re: "Dragon Ball Super" On-Going Discussion Thread
Still excited and full of questions. So far this year we're getting a new DBZ movie, a new animated DB series and a new Toriyama x Katsura manga. 2015 is a good year for this side of the fanbase in me.

Either DB or One PiecePhoenixEX wrote:All aboard the hype train!!
I can't say that I didn't see this coming though. The introduction of parallel universes was a red flag for me that something was coming.
GT can now be set in a separate universe because of that. Plus, Dragon Ball is probably TOEI's biggest cash cow.
Still, my hype levels are over 9000.

Great news. Exactly what needed to be done for the franchise to be relevant again, not make unsatisfying movies but a completely new anime series.

A part of me expected this to be dismissed upon reading it... but reading that English press release, I am overwhelmed. Can't explain how I'm feeling right now... but I'm pretty good.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" On-Going Discussion Thread
If they're going to go into other universes then this is the way to do it.
The best part about this is Toriyama is officially back full time which is something I never thought would happen.

July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Wow. I wonder how involved Toriyama actually is in the story. Regardless, this is very awesome news!

Yes, but it's not Dragon Ball. Toriyama is writing, Katsura is drawing, just like their past projects. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... nga/.87523songohan619 wrote:Huh? It's probably just a one shot, like the others, because Toriyama will have his hands full with Dragon Ball Super

Dragonbox part 2 I'm assuming? Lol I can't wait for the ball to get rolling. Never would of imagined my favorite anime coming back.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" On-Going Discussion Thread
Yup. Toriyama is collaborating with Katsura Masakazu again to make a new manga in Young Jump. Toriyama will do the story while Katsura will do the art.songohan619 wrote:Huh? I can't wait to see what role Vegeta plays in this, hopefully he'll get to finish an arc or 2 and hopefully this'll be a 200+ episode anime.
With Toriyama working on this does it mean we won't get any movies from him ?

For anyone that wants to put this into perspective...go back and listen to this podcast:

Now, just imagine if you were to time travel into the past, interrupt this podcast, and tell them about everything that's happened in the past 3/4 years since then. It's insane.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" On-Going Discussion Thread
That's over four years worth of material... I'm all for a new series here, But I'm not sure I'm looking for another SUPER long run for Dragon Ball. Maybe ~100 to get us to a 2017 movie and see how things work from there?sintzu wrote:Hopefully this'll be a 200+ series with each arc having a different character finishing the battle.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" On-Going Discussion Thread
I dunno about that. He'll be providing ideas and stuff, but I doubt he'll be writing the episode scripts or god forbid choreographing the fights.sintzu wrote:If they're going to go into other universes then this is the way to do it.

New characters,new arcs,new worlds,ect.
This is going to open up the dragon world beyond anything we could have imagined.
Another good thing is the games won't be short on content.

I think the movies will be set in between arcs while the anime moves past the manga.JamesOwnz wrote:Just a thought.. set after Majin Buu.. i'm thinking now it will also take place in the years between RoF and the tournament.. hope I'm wrong and it takes place after the tournament and Uub.

He could be writing the scripts, he has stated he's enjoying writing everything without having to draw it.molokidan wrote:I dunno about that. Re: "Dragon Ball Super" On-Going Discussion Thread
I wonder how Toei will handle the openings for this series. One OP for the whole series like Kai and The Final Chapters (well, if you treat them separately), or follow the more modern model of changing OPs every 13-26 episodes? Maybe something somewhere in-between like they do with One Piece. ...I guess we can't really guess at this until we have a better idea of how long the series will be.
I assume Sumitomo will compose the music for Super, since he's evidently the new Dragon Ball music guy.
