Dragon Ball Actors You Met and Interactions
Know have asked before, but it's been a bit so thought I'd ask you guys what DB actors have you met, either from the Japanese original, or your native tongue's dub? And if you have, have you taken picture with, or just gotten autographs from them? For myself, while I met some of the Ocean cast, I'm only going to include the ones from the first two seasons as I never heard the later ones, so not counting Amuro Ray and Shippo. I have gotten autographs from most of the below, and minus Ms. Bailey pics with them too, but not posting due to being a lot and not wanting to clutter up the page. Italicized names are actors who I actually had sign DB stuff, while many of the others I had sign for other roles.
Japanese:
Ryo Horikawa- Vegeta
Mayumi Tanaka- Krillin
First Two Seasons Ocean:
Scott McNeil- Piccolo
Paul Dobson- Zarbon
Michael Dobson- Nail, various
Lisa Ann Beley- Chi-Chi (in one of the movies or so)
Saffron Henderson- Young Goku and Young Gohan
Cathy Weseluk- Puar
Brian Drummond- Vegeta
Funimation Z-era (pre-Kai) Texas:

Dameon Clarke- Cell
Troy Baker- Hoy

Monica Rial- Bulma
Todd Haberkorn- Jaco

Re: Dragon Ball Actors You Met and Interactions
Super Sonic your list is pretty sweet! It's always cool to meet the actors who worked on Dragon Ball their all pretty cool people. My list is somewhat small compared to that but here we go!
Ocean Dub: Kirby Morrow-Goku(3rd voice)
Funimation:
Kyle Hebert (Gohan,Narrator,Ox-King) Photo & autographs, met more than once
Christopher Sabat (Vegeta, Piccolo,Yamcha everyone else lol) autographs, met more than once
Sean Schemmel (Goku, King Kai,Nail) autograph
Eric Vale (Future Trunks) autograph
Monica Rial (Bulma in Kai)Photo & autograph
Justin Cook (Raditz, Super Buu) photo & autographs, met more than once
*Stephanie Nadolny (Kid Goku, Kid Gohan) autographs. I emailed Stephanie a while back and she replied to me on the same day! I asked if I could send some stuff to her to sign and was more than happy to do so. I sent her some fan art and a handwritten letter and she wrote me back too. It wasn't in person but I'd imagine she would be just as kind face to face.

NYC Comic Con 2011. Idk why I'm biting my lip, but I met this awesome guy.
He was in a rush. Told him I was a fan, asked for pic. Kept it moving.
Spoiler:
Re: Dragon Ball Actors You Met and Interactions
I got to ask Henrique Feist (Portuguese Son Goku, among others) a couple of questions once, and that was it to be honest.
Re: Dragon Ball Actors You Met and Interactions
I got to meet Justin Cook at Ani-Jam in 2008. It was the first time I'd gone out of town for a con (I usually just go to sakuracon every year.) and he made my whole con when I asked him to do "Spirit Gun FIRE!" and he smiled all big and did the line with some serious gusto.
Going on hiatus. Too much stuff in RL to deal with for me to keep up with posts here for now. Was fun, hope you all have a nice day and future! Volt signing off.

Sakuracon's my hometown's convention, so we might've seen each other there and didn't know it. Speaking of, remembered Christopher Bevins was Naturon Shenron (shows how much I watched GT) and met him there this year and got pic with him after he signed my Ultra Street Fighter IV and Sengoku Basara season 1. (He was really smiling at the latter as besides acting he did directing on it).voltlunok wrote:I got to meet Justin Cook at Ani-Jam in 2008. Re: Dragon Ball Actors You Met and Interactions
Oh nice! We should try to coordinate a meet up or something for this year if you're going and any other kanzenshuu members are going too. It'd be nice to meet fellow Kanzentians. Gonna try cause I sadly missed it last year. Though if you went in 2012 and saw a really tall, 6'5 Dan Hibiki cosplay running around, that was probably me!Super Sonic wrote:Sakuracon's my hometown's convention, so we might've seen each other there and didn't know it. If you saw a 6'1" African American Mr. Satan, you might've seen me that year. Don't know iF i did, as not looking through them, but here are my pics from that year:

On topic, meeting Mr. Vale and Mr. Clarke was back during when they had those mall meetups back in 2001. Took my then 9 year-old cousin with me. Regret that I didn't bring a camera, and we had nothing for signing that day. Though Mr. Vale did sign my cousin's jacket.

Re: Dragon Ball Actors You Met and Interactions
I've lucky to run into a good amount of DBZ voice actors in smallish little cons on the East Coast.
The big one was Animazement 2013, where lots of Kanzenshuu-ers (including myself) got to meet and get autographs from:
Masako Nozawa (Goku)
Ryusei Nakao (Freeza)
Toshio Furukawa (Piccolo)
Yuko Minaguchi (Videl)
Sean Schemmel (Goku)
Kara Edwards (Videl)
Kyle Hebert (Teen Gohan)
Getting to shake hands and say "thank you" the great Nozawa was truly humbling and made for a memorable con indeed. Also, getting to meet and have good times with Mike, Meri, and you other lovely people at Kanzenshuu made it well worth the trip.
As well as Animazement, Anime Weekend Atlanta is also a pretty great con when it comes to booking great Japanese/English guests. I've also gotten to meet and briefly speak with:
Toru Furuya (Yamcha/Amuro Ray)
Scott McNeil (Ocean cast Piccolo)
This con was where OmegaRockman and myself found out a bit more about the mythical Ocean dub of Kai, namely that Richard Ian Cox is supposedly cast as Goku.

Re: Dragon Ball Actors You Met and Interactions
Animazement 2013 was truly amazing! Like theoriginalbilis said, meeting the Japanese cast and hanging with fellow Kanzenshuu members was a blast!
I believe it was the following year in 2014 where Animazement had Toru Furuya as well. I had the pleasure of attending one of his panels and got to request him to say in his Yamcha voice, "Big Bang Attack!" I think it was too nerdy and obscure of me to ask, because nobody seemed to get what I was trying to do, including him
This year at Otakon Sean Schemmel and Chris Sabat were there, but I never got a chance to meet them personally. I did however bump into Justin Cook in the dealers room! He was a really nice guy. I didn't want to take up much of his time, so I just said hi, shook his hand and told him I respected his work. I loved it, because he got a big smile on his face and said, "Hey, thanks man!"

Re: Dragon Ball Actors You Met and Interactions
I've met Stephanie Nadolny on Facebook, if that counts.
Re: Dragon Ball Actors You Met and Interactions
Let's see, over the years I've met
Sean Schemnel--great guy and very friendly. He was a last minute guest at one of my local cons and they were not prepared for his popularity. I was lucky enough to be sitting where the line started and got an autograph and photo but lots of people missed out. I saw him ending a lot of his panels early so he could sign for and meet fans that missed out.
Chris Sabat--Another last minute guest and same thing happened. I got lucky enough to get in line before the cut off. Sabat seemed to really get into the fans' cosplays.
Eric Vale--brief meeting but friendly guy
Laura Bailey--very brief (her line was long!) but quite pleasant and tried to personalize the experience as much as she could
Colleen Clickenbeard--very sweet and pleasant and funny
Mike McFarland--He didn't talk much but added something personal to everything he signed.
Kyle Hebert--He was nice when I met him though I've heard he can be rude. I've never had that experience. I've met him twice.
Vic Mignogna--He's another that I've heard can be really rude and uppity but I never saw it. He didn't do Broly during panels as he said it tore up his voice but I did see him meet with a fan after the panel and do a few lines for him.
Chuck Huber--This guy is hilarious. Probably the most outgoing of the VAs I've met. Never charges for his photo or autograph and every time I've met him he gives these huge bear hugs to anyone that asks
Sonny Strait--I think I've met him 4 times now. Probably the easiest to talk to and he spends a minimum of 7-10 minutes with each person. Last time I met him, he remembered me from last time which I consider impressive.

Re: Dragon Ball Actors You Met and Interactions
Hm, well, I've interacted with the three Ocean Dub Gokus plus Sean Schemmell (I probably spelled that wrong) on Twitter, I met Vic last year at RICC, and a few years ago I had a brief interaction with a TFS voice actress (Kid Trunks' if I recall) after she randomly came across one of my videos that wasn't even Dragon Ball-related (rather it was another childhood series that she apparently also loved, and it was a Japanese dub I had uploaded with Vegeta's seiyuu playing a role). And that's about it.

Re: Dragon Ball Actors You Met and Interactions
Hmmm....not a ton to speak of, but I've got some bits here and there. I've had the pleasure of being able to meet, interact, and in some cases even work with a few notable voice actors (Wendee Lee, Tony Oliver, Cam Clarke, etc.), but not a whole lot of interaction with Dragon Ball cast members. Among the few interactions that I've had with them...
Sean Schemmel: I had two very brief back-and-forth conversations with him on Twitter and Facebook. It was the typical, "I'm a fan of your work"/"Oh, thank you!" type exchange. Brief, but polite and friendly.
Kyle Hebert: Seven, almost eight years ago now, I took a voice acting lesson with him via Skype (he was my teacher for an hour or so). Super nice guy! Not only nice, but also very informative. One of the coaches he pointed me to would end up becoming one of my greatest VO mentors, and it really helped with my career. At the time, I was still in college and still had a roommate, and even though it was technically me that was getting the lesson, Hebert was nice enough to say a line for my roommate in-character in his DBZ narrator voice.
Vic Mignogna: A year further back than my interaction with Hebert, I finished watching Fullmetal Alchemist and wrote him an email saying that I enjoyed the show and his performance. He wrote back a short but nice email thanking me.
Monica Rial: It was at Ohayacon back when I was still living in Ohio, and at the time, the TFS episode where Vegeta fights Zarbon for the second time had recently been released, and one of the more memorable lines from that episode was Bulma shouting at Zarbon (after he transforms), "KILL IT WITH FIRE!" At Rial's panel, I asked if she could say that in her Bulma voice, and she gladly did.
Chris Sabat/Mike McFarland/Chris Ayers/Greg Ayers/Brina Palencia/Christopher Bevins/Monica Rial again: At the same Ohayaco, they were hosting a roast for Chris Sabat. It was an 18+-event, so everyone in attendance was told to turn off their cameras and recording devices so that the actors could be as risque as they wanted to with their humor. This was a once-in-a-lifetime event that I am so, so glad I went to. It's easily the funniest roast I've ever seen, Comedy Central roasts included. It's too bad there aren't any recordings of it. Between the roast and an improv comedy show the next day (also an 18+-event), they were two of the funniest shows I've ever seen in my life. I don't want them to quit voice acting, but if these people wanted to quit being voice actors and just go into improv comedy instead, I'm convinced that they could not only do that, but that they'd have great careers. Some seriously, seriously funny people!
Well actually, one event from that roast is shareable. After Brina got up and did her roast, she said, "Well Chris, I went out and found your biggest fan, and I asked her to express her appreciation for you in a video, which I will now play for you." Then she played this video (the joke being that the girl in the video is Palencia herself). As anyone at the roast will attest to, the crowd was roaring with laughter, some were laughing so hard they were crying. Chris Sabat's first words when he got up to speak at the end were, "Brina, I'm changing my locks when I get home."
All my other interactions with voice actors are with voice actors who weren't in Dragon Ball.

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

KaiserNeko online here if Abridged actors even count, and that's about it.
Re: Dragon Ball Actors You Met and Interactions
Japanese: Toshio Furukawa (Piccolo), Ryusei Nakao (Freeza), and Tohru Furuya (Yamcha).
FUNi Dub: Vic Mignogna (Broli) and Kyle Hebert (Gohan/Narrator).
Ocean Dub: Brian Drummond (Vegeta) and Brad Swaile (Gohan)
My most memorable interactions had to be with Furukawa and Nakao. Seems odd that my best interactions would be with people that don't speak the same language as me, but it's the truth,
When meeting Furukawa, I was wearing this Piccolo shirt that I got at Hot Topic years ago. He thought it was such a cool shirt and found it fascinating that an American shirt would feature Japanese writing. He even got a picture of my wife and I and tweeted it. So that was really cool.
Meanwhile, with Nakao, to sign I gave him this very awkward 3rd Form Freeza figure that I had just bought that day. It's the creepy one from the "Creatures" line. The figure was very hard to sign and he actually just sat it down and just examined it for a good 30 seconds before signing it with somehow the most pristine handwriting I've ever seen. A true pro!
