Anyone miss Tiffany Vollmer?
To me, she will always be Bulma. Has she been forgotten by a lot of people?

Re: Anyone miss Tiffany Vollmer?
I'm about to finish watching Frieza saga Kai and I actually miss Vollmer's Bulma and wish she could have been kept in the Kai cast going forward.

Honestly the voice transition was so seamless to me I didn't even know it was a different actor at first. Though to be fair I had been out of the loop kinda for a good while at that point. But now I can definitely tell the difference. They still sound fairly similar. The new Bulma just sounds like she has a lighter voice is all. Going back Vollmer really didn't act nearly as well. I like her voice. But her line delivery was off.
Re: Anyone miss Tiffany Vollmer?
I did miss her for quite some time, but the new voice actor has kind of grown on me now. I think the difference in the two child Gohan voices (Z and Kai) is a much, much bigger distraction than the Bulmas.ShaneisMC wrote:Honestly the voice transition was so seamless to me I didn't even know it was a different actor at first. I wasn't a fan of Bulma's voice when i was a dub fan, she was so annoying. On the other hand, Hiromi Tsuru is so kawaii <3

Re: Anyone miss Tiffany Vollmer?
I'm sure shes a great person but good lord, looking back on her Bulma I cant understand how anyone enjoyed it. When she did Bulma she had what I call "Power Ranger Acting". The constant and I mean CONSTANT inflections just in no way at all sound good to the ear. To be fair its really par for the course with the rest of the acting back then. It just reeked of inexperience. The worst thing is even up to pre-2010 she showed no signs of improvement or change in the way she did Bulma. From day 1 till the day she stopped doing the character it was just a single line of mediocrity.
Perhaps because it was her only voice acting role she did aside from a minor role on Case Closed. Playing the same character from 1999 to around 2004 and ONLY that character? There was no chance to change up how she acted by doing other characters and it shows. Personally, I am very happy with Monica Rial as the current Bulma. Shes a much more experienced actor who I feel accurately portrays Bulma as a character and comes much closer to emulating Hiromi Tsuru far closer than Vollmer ever did.

Her Bulma was great after the Season 3 dub. She gave Bulma a wide range of emotions as well as that sweet and soft side to her character too.
Re: Anyone miss Tiffany Vollmer?
She sounded far too old. I agree with the sentiment that she over-inflects and overacts.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Re: Anyone miss Tiffany Vollmer?
It's Monica Rial that voices Bulma now, correct? I only remember noticing the change in voice when I was watching BoG, when I realized Bulma sounded more nasally than I remembered. I thought Tiffany Vollmer's take on the character suited Bulma more in her dragon ball teenage years, but made less sense as the character became older. Funny though, I kind of miss it now that she's gone. It's not easy to accept a new VA when you've heard the same character voices by the same person for a decade.

No. I'm sorry to sound like a bit of an asshole, but I have to be honest, her performance as Bulma was terrible and one of the worst things about the original 1999-2003 FUNi dub. All of the charm in Bulma's character was sapped out and instead we got a valley girl wannabe. Thnak God for Monica Rail.

Can't say I do. I find her voice to be exceptionally annoying. It was constantly cracking and her inflections were all over the place. I'd rather hear Monica Rial or Wendee Lee or Leda Davies or Maggie Blue O'hara.... Actually, I think I like almost all of Bulma's English voices more than Tiffany Volmer.

Re: Anyone miss Tiffany Vollmer?
Personally I didn't notice the change of actors initially. If I hadn't read up on Kai casting I probably would have assumed it was still Tiffany voicing Bulma, the difference is that miniscule to me.
I will still watch the old dub now and again and listen to some of her performances, as I have always and will always consume anything Dragon Ball-related, but I won't lose any sleep if we never see her do Bulma again.
That said if I was to choose I'd give Monica Rial the edge, because for me Kai is a much better directed dub than its Z counterpart, and it shows in many of the actor's performances.

No offense to either actors, but Vanessa Marshall FTW. If Ocean had a shot, I'd go with Venus Terzo or perhaps Maryke Hendrikse.

Not in the slightest. I'm sure Vollmer is a nice person, but her Bulma was the worst.

Re: Anyone miss Tiffany Vollmer?
Sure do. I wished they'd get her back for Super but I'm sure that'll never happen.
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Re: Anyone miss Tiffany Vollmer?
At first coming back into everything I was all "omg new eww this isnt what i remember derp etc". After actually coming into truly understanding the characters better and the actors for what they are I am glad ultimately that Colleen took that role. She sounds much more believable as a very young boy and I like her acting a bit more. Also I find her voice in general suits Gohans character more, not to mention I like having two different voices for Kid Goku and Gohan. That being said I definitely would love and still prefer to keep Stephanie Nadolny as Kid Goku. Hes older than Gohan was so the deeper pitch fits more and also I definitely find her voice works much better with his character. She wasnt perfect but i feel with better script adaptation, some better directing, and a little acting improvement and she would be stellar.LordCrumb wrote:I did miss her for quite some time, but the new voice actor has kind of grown on me now. Re: Anyone miss Tiffany Vollmer?
I for one, actually do miss Tiffany Vollmer. Ok, so she's not as good of an actor as Monica Rial...but she was still a part of my adolescence (I wasn't as lucky as you all were in watching DBZ as a kid). So really, I just kind of wish we could have had Tiffany Vollmer voicing Bulma, but with the acting chops of Monica Rial ...

I actually really enjoyed Tiffany Vollmer as Bulma (especially in early DB) despite some of her flaws as stated above. Do I miss her? A little, but I find Monica Rial as a good replacement for the character.

Re: Anyone miss Tiffany Vollmer?
The new girl can act good, but the voice isn't fitting. The older VA had a better voice and was MUCH better at acting. Also her voice was sexier IMo, which fits cause she's the main eye candy of the show.
