Was the Budokai Series OST Inspired by Bruce Falconer?

Post by NeoKING » Sun May 22, 2016 2:37 pm

Ever since I was a kid, I thought Falconer was responsible for the soundtrack because of how similar it sounded. Growing up I found this wasn't the case, but is there any traces linking the two OSTs?

Unlikely. Any similarities you hear is simply Yamamoto taking influence / direct compositions from his own past work (which pre-dates Faulconer Productions) and... well... Stratovarius.

No, why would it? It's fiction. The strength of the characters is not possible to reach in reality.
I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

Well.. although there's no way to say for sure, I did notice the Daybreak Battle theme from Budokai 3 that plays when Uub meets Vegeta in Dragon Universe sounds kind of similar to some of Faulconer's Vegeta's themes.

Here's Daybreak Battle:

And here's Vegeta Powers Up from the Faulconer Productions score:

And Vegeta's Super Saiyan theme:

Maybe it's just my imagination, but I get a similar vibe from them.

Personally I don't hear any Faulconer influence on the Budokai music to be honest. It's well known that Yamamoto borrowed heavily from Stratovarius for the rock tracks in Budokai plus his orchestral tracks (Full of Tears) are worlds apart from anything in the Faulconer score.

It didn't sound like that at all. Most of the soundtrack sounded like Kikuchi through a more modern lens.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!
