Toonami Asia airing "Big Green" dubs of first 3 DB films
According to Toonami Asia's schedule listings, both Dragon Ball: The Great Mystical Adventure and Dragon Ball: The Legend of Shenron will be airing on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
Although I'm not positive that these are indeed the versions of the films produced by AB Groupe, it's important to note that all of Toonami Asia's listings for the Dragon Ball Z films use the FUNimation dub titles as opposed to these which share the same names as the films presented on Toonami UK many years ago.
I believe that it's also relevant to add that FUNimation's dubs for these films never aired on television, which may have perhaps resulted in a lack of an alternative television master, or a gaugeable television rating. Additionally, we know that Time Warner, the company that owns the network, also played a role in funding and distributing AB Groupe's English dubs.
These particular versions of the Dragon Ball films never saw an official release, and beyond a few short clips posted on YouTube, there is virtually no way to watch these films unless you were lucky enough to have recorded them back when they were originally broadcast on Toonami UK over a decade ago.
Toonami Asia is also set to premiere a brand-new English dub of Dragon Ball Super either later this month or sometime in August, which is confirmed to have zero involvement from FUNimation. With this in mind, it's not surprising that Toonami Asia is willing to put voice consistency aside in order to put out more Dragon Ball content.

Well then, somebody ought to record these dubs! Even if they aren't Big Green, they may be a dub that can't be found anywhere else.
edit: Even if they didn't air on TV, censored Funi versions of those movies exist, at least on VHS

If Toonami Asia is really airing the AB Groupe versions of both movies, We may finally have both movies done by Big Green!
Someone please, record these!

Also, the title mentions movies 1-3, but I didn't see any mention of movie 2. Consequently, if they do air movie 2, it'll most likely be titled Sleeping Beauty in Devil Castle if it is indeed the AB Groupe dub.

I feel like these are more likely the old Malaysian English dub, but either way, this is exciting.

Hm... I can't edit my post...
I wanted to add that I think it might possibly be Funimation's dub despite the title. Everything else they show of DB is from Funimation.

Does anyone even have access to this channel or at least a stream? If so, someone record this!
Re: Toonami Asia airing "Big Green" dubs of first 3 DB films
So, going over the possibilities mentioned, along with others....
2004? AB Groupe "Big Green" dub; 1999? Malaysian "Speedy" dub; 1995 Funi/BLT DB Movie 1 + 1999? Funi cut DB Movie 3, 2010? Funi DB Movie 1 + 1999? Funi Uncut DB Movie 3; an unlisted but known dub; a brand spanking new dub.
Personally, I think Big Green and censored Funi are the most likely to occur, as it seems unlikely uncensored or not previously rated stuff would be aired. Then again...
Slightly off topic, but what version(s) of DBZ was(were) aired in Toonami Asia's recent reruns?

Huh, I saw the 1999? Malaysian Speedy Dub as a possibility to be aired on TV?
How would that be possible, exactly? (Not saying that it's not a possibility though)

For whatever reason, for the past few months, post editing has had a time limit of a couple of hours, and then you can never edit that post again.linkdude20002001 wrote:Hm... I can't edit my post...
It doesn't make sense, especially in big announcement threads where you need to be able to indefinitely update the first post.

Well, I'm able to edit my old English dubs thread, so maybe there's an exception if it's the original post. Or maybe it's just becuz it's old? Thank, tho. I'm glad it's not just some stupid problem on my side.

With the forum upgrade, you can now edit the first post in topics you create.

It used to be that the only posts you couldn't edit were posts in locked threads. As of a few weeks ago, it seems that editing posts is now no longer doable after a certain amount of time has passed (with, as Ajay noted, the exception of your first post in a thread, assuming you created the thread). I was wondering if this change was a glitch, or intentional.sangofe wrote:We always could do that, couldn't we?Ajay wrote:With the forum upgrade, you can now edit the first post in topics you create.

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

That's correct. We'll address it in a follow-up post. From here on out in this thread, please keep the conversation on-topic. Thanks!

I was just about to say the same thing.
So we're still nowhere close to knowing if this is the Bug Green Dub or otherwise, right?

Re: Toonami Asia airing "Big Green" dubs of first 3 DB films
I've seen a number of users on these forums, for some reason, go back to posts they've made many years ago and edit them to say something along the lines of "." or "Removed." I can only assume the people who did that wanted to hide their shameful pre-teen "contributions" to various threads, but all it really does is remove coherence from those particular discussions.TheBlackPaladin wrote:It used to be that the only posts you couldn't edit were posts in locked threads. Edit: Didn't see your post prior to posting mine, VegettoEX. Whoops!

Has there been any confirmation these were the Big Green dubs?
