The upcoming Hit arc: Canon or Filler?

I'm seeing a lot of people who think it's canon and then people who think it's filler. Is there a definite answer to this?

The next chapter in December may be the final chapter of the Future Trunks arc. By near future does that mean he'll be in front by January? February? I can't see the anime having filler from now up to February.

As for the anime, the next 3 episodes definitely seem like filler. The episode "Goku dies!", with that new Key Art they did for it, the returning RoF costume, them bringing back a fairly major character like Hit whose been ordered to track him down and kill him...that does not seem like filler to me.

However it didn't mention Toriyama this time around did it? Which is why I'm unsure.

By the time that episode comes out the next and possibly last chapter of the Future Trunks saga will be out. It'd mean the chapter after that in January could start to cover this Hit arc and as the manga moves at a quicker pace then I guess it could pull a ahead. So i could see it working like that.

Either that or there's gonna be quite a bit of filler.

I think it's filler and that Champa hired Hit to do it, it'll be an excuse to see Hit again at least! The reason I say it's filler is because they even have Champa coming back I believe, and if you insert a God of Destruction into filler why not Hit?

It is true that Champa is going to be in one so I don't suppose Hit couldn't be in the filler but Champa's episode is just a baseball one, Hit's sounds pretty serious.

As for Champa hiring Hit to kill Goku, I've seen people mention that but it doesn't seem that likely to me. Why would Champa want to kill Goku? Why couldn't he do it himself? Why would Hit accept such a thing from a guy who'd previously threatened to kill him? Beerus was nice enough to use his wish to revive Earth for him so that's not a nice way of saying thank you .

If it actually is a canon arc then I would guess it would be someone else to retain the mystery than the Future Trunks arc had. Maybe someone from the Universe 6 Earth wants him dead.

It all sounds too interesting to be an idea from Toei.

They reused artwork from the Champa arc and didn't promote it as a brand new arc so my guess is filler.

(I would like to see that Champa arc dougi of Gokû's make a return though).

Maybe Zamasu never actually died after all and he paid Hit to kill Goku?? Maybe he's forming an army of mortals from the multiverse to attack Goku and Co?? Maybe Zamasu is becoming The Joker of DB.

This quote is a big part of why I think the arc is going to be filler.
...Well, filler isn't the correct word at this point. I mean I think the manga will skip the arc.
Of course, another big hint would be a "Story written by Toriyama" statement, which, if I recall correctly, was put on the Champa arc and the Zamasu arc, but not on the Copy-Vegeta saga, and to my knowledge not on this Hit saga either, at least not yet.
We also have to consider that the new arc was going to be announced at Jump Festa, which is on the December 17th-18th. I would find it very strange if the arc was announced the same day as, or the day before, it started to air. That's not how you announce things. You'd want to build some hype first. We saw Hit posters way before the Champa arc started, for example.
I think that's all we can say at this point. We'll have to wait for the month to pass so we can get more information.

No. Just the Gods Tournament saga and Future Trunks saga. Everything else is Toei's thing.

There's no confirmation of a "Hit Arc", for all we know this could be just a one off episode.

Yeah I'd like it to be canon as well. I'm really not sure, it all depends how the schedule with the manga plays out.

There is no statement from Toriyama (yet) but they didn't really advertise the Copy Water arc like this did they? It just doesn't come across like filler to me though there's not to say it couldn't be it just sticks out when compared to the other episodes which definitely seem like filler.

Probably it's filler but longer than the 3 episodes Potafou arc, probably why they are adversiting it. If this was the case then the manga would have 1 or 3 months to go ahead without needing to rush a lot.

That saga was great, though! It had Jaco, Monaka, commeson, a pacifier seal, Copy-Vegeta, lots of serious moments, and lots of laughs. The only thing that would have made it better is if the whole thing was displayed on KamiTube in MST3K style.
