Just in from the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour finals:
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.
Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" Official Discussion Thread
^ Oh, still no specific date for the PS5 update with probably much-improved visuals compared to the PS4 (plus the loading times)?
Ah, well, we can wait, I guess! There's enough on our plate coming in February! But with graphics already stunning on PS4 Pro, I'm eager to play it in an even more impressive version on PS5!

I hate how now we are missing EVO cause Bandai/Shueisha is dropping the ball.
Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" Official Discussion Thread
Honestly surprised the game lasted this long at EVO.
The support started to fade in 2021 already, when they finished the last season pass. A year later you have Labcoat which was probably already half done and follows no logical reason for release besides grabbing a few bucks.
Shortly after with the game in an awful state balance wise, they say no more patches, this is it.
2022 was when the game was considered finished by developers.
Afterwards they went back on their word with patches and of course rollback announcement. However rollback seems more like testing, likely for FighterZ 2. Makes no sense to invest in such an undertaking for a game themselves considered done and with no extra revenue.
The patches were just throwing a bone to hungry dogs.
It was a good run.
Hopefully FighterZ 2 - if it ever comes - can return to EVO.

Indeed, I'm not sure a higher resolution in current-gen hardware and the addition of rollback will breathe any new life to the game's community.
People that are still on it will be pleased, but I can't imagine people that have moved on will go back to it just for that, they took too much time without adding anything to compensate for the long wait.
So I agree that it's probably more of a basis to use for a sequel rather than the devs actually thinking it will bring any more sales or interest from people at this point.
People interested in the game have explored it thoroughly at some point in the previous years and people not interested in the game after all this time and all the extra content won't suddenly feel the urge to finally dive into it because it has a slightly higher resolution and rollback for the online, with nothing else new to offer.
Only a complete, striking overhaul for the presentation, visuals and gameplay as well as a striking lot of new content that would make people go "wow, this is like a different game worth exploring all over again" would do, and that's basically the job of a potential sequel.

They already said two years ago that the game wont get more content outside of the rollback netcode update.Gt91 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 9:13 am DB FighterZ PS5 & XBox Series X|S version announced

Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" Official Discussion Thread
I doubt we will get a new season pass. I could see them holding off until the PS6 & next Xbox release before doing a FighterZ 2. This rollback update is probably just a testing ground for that.
Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" Official Discussion Thread
Not for PC? Also, is it possible to get a physical copy for PC?Neo-Makaiōshin wrote: ↑Sun Feb 18, 2024 11:48 amThey already said two years ago that the game wont get more content outside of the rollback netcode update.Gt91 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 9:13 am DB FighterZ PS5 & XBox Series X|S version announced

At least it will include the DLC. Too bad there's no release date announced yet.

So uhm tomorrow. I hope it includes the DLC, but seeing no mentions of it makes me anxious since the price of all DLC combined is steep

Some game modes will be limited to delayed based netcode.
Some game modes will be limited to delayed based netcode.
The rollback netcode system is not compatible with some of the game modes in Dragon Ball FighterZ. The Circle Party Match mode, which allows up to six players to participate in a single match, and the Party Battle mode, which allows up to three players to cooperate against a powerful enemy, are both limited to the delay-based netcode system.

Apparently, the Xbox Series X version isn't working right. Where have I seen THAT before...?
DBZ: Kakarot flashbacks...

Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

Since nobody replied to this and I can't find anything on Google, does it mean there is no physical release for PC?sangofe wrote: ↑Mon Feb 19, 2024 8:21 amNot for PC? Physical PC releases practically don't exist anymore, it's all digital.

Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" Official Discussion Thread
I haven't played FighterZ in forever, but was thinking about getting the PS5/rollback upgrade until I looked into it online.
From everything I've seen online the current gen versions of the game have been botched, with multiple glitches and the visuals being off.
There's a rumour that Arc System Works have cut ties with Bandai Namco, due to being underfunded, and that Bamco have handled the rollback implementation internally.
This would definitely explain a lot. Like why its taken so long to happen, and why the end result is such a mess.
I'm not sure the upgrade is even worth bothering with at this point. While the PS4 version doesn't have rollback, at least it isn't riddled with glitches, and the player base might still be bigger on there.

I wonder what a sequel would look like.
I liked the rays plot device to explain fighters being on the same level.
Although 16 should not have been affected and stomped everyone if they all were at Nappas level lmao.
But I'm not sure how they can repeat that again.

Yamcha almost certainly did not cheat on Bulma:
He was afraid of Women, Bulma was the flirty one.
Yamcha wanted to get married (it was his gonna be his wish)
He suggested they settle down in the Trunks saga.
Alternate future Trunks is not a reliable source.
Toriyama wanted new SSJ Kids and not make new characters.

Re: "Dragon Ball FighterZ" Official Discussion Thread
Note that all character models have been replaced by next-gen models with more polygons, smoothing every curv.
Super Saiyan 2 Gohan's picture below is nice to see how all (or at least most) curves have been smoothed with extra polygons all over to really avoid the angular effect (watch the ear, the fingers, the wristband, the muscles all along the arm, the shoulder...
(for a bigger view, you can right-click and open the picture in a new tab).
This makes one of the most beautiful and faithful DB game even closer to the art of the original material(s).
However, the cost of that beautiful upgrade is one specific shot of a Dramatic Finish: it seems the facial animation was not applied to (or failed to work with) the new model, Gohan not smiling anymore when he has beaten Cell and having a weird, barely opened mouth while sounding like he's gasping for air. You can even see the "smile wrinkles" still in place around the nose and meant to surround the mouth where it's supposed to be when he smiles. As far as I know, this is the only graphical accident of the new models and it might be updated later to fix the issue.
