How Universe 9 could have won

Post by Polyphase Avatron » Wed Jul 19, 2017 1:00 am

Step 1: Everyone erect ki shields to block out Lavenda's poison

Step 2: Have Lavenda spread poison indiscriminately around the arena. It will take out at least some fighters

Step 3: Basil, Bergamo and Hyssop will ambush fighters near the edge of the ring with a combo attack: Basil will bombard the area with ki blasts from up in the air, Hyssop will freeze the floor so they lose their footing and slip, and Bergamo will knock them off the edge. If this combo fails they will retreat and try it on someone else. The key is surprise attacks and not getting involved in a long, drawn-out fight. Since their ki can't be sensed this should be even more effective.

Step 4: The others will do what the weaker Universe 7 members are doing - stick together, don't go after anyone, fight defensively, and stay away from anyone really strong. Keep their group moving as well.

Step 5: Once the amount of fighters is down to 20 or so, take on really strong fighters one at a time with the following tactic - Bergamo will fight them head-on and absorb their power. Lavenda and Hyssop will try to poison and freeze them while they're distracted. Basil will join in and use the Dangers Triangle. If more than one strong enemy gets involved, retreat.

Step 6: Everyone will combine their power to take on the remaining enemies one or two at a time, starting with the weakest.

I think it's almost impossible that they could have won, but they definitely could have done a lot better if everyone used teamwork the way the Trio De Dangers did, possibly finishing in top 2 or 3 universe of the tournament IMO.

They would have lasted a lot longer had they done one simple thing: DON'T GO AFTER UNIVERSE 7, THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO KNEW YOUR TECHNIQUES!!

Most certainly, I have some theories why they chose to do so aside from the obvious one the show tells us, but if they had not done it, they would have lasted much longer

Why they didn't use Bergamo to tank hits is beyond me.

Hell, if he can control when he deactivates his power, why not tank some hits, pick the opponent up and lob them into the abyss before going small again to avoid being too large a target? Have the rest of Universe 9 cover him.

Bermago in general was horrifically under utilized in the ToP. At least Lavenda got to show off a bit and Basil got the honour of being the first to eliminate anyone.

Such tactics would have to require that the U9 team members utilise their abilities pragmatically and efficiently in-tandem. I doubt you would find such a mindset in them.

The humans could theoretically eliminate all of the heavy hitters like Jiren and Hit if they wanted to by using the Mafuba. Likewise, Piccolo could materialise a Kachi Katchin alloyed Namekian ship for the others to use in creating some distance from the stadium and then destroy it with the Kienzan. Will this tactic pan out or go through the minds of the characters? No, because it wouldn't make for as much a spectacle for the audience or the studio. Imagine Krillin killing Freeza on Namek with his Kienzan when he had the opportunity. The entire arc would just end right there -- no dire straits, no tearful last requests from a pridefully shattered Saiyan Prince, no climactic epic final battle with the legend of the Super Saiyan being realised, or ect. The scourge of the galaxy was killed by a lowly human native with his cutting technique.

I don't think any of the participants from Universe 9 would have sat down to think of strategies, especially given how Universe 9 has the lowest mortal level. It's a poorly managed universe.

Toei: Goku and Vegeta tag team and eliminate universe 9 in 1 episode.

Writer: Ok, but how we going to work around their abilities?

Toei: energy shield for Lavenda, basil can't use the fruit of might.

Writer: ok what about Bergamo?

Toei: what about him?

Writer: nervermind..

Out of curiosity since you keep saying this, where did you get the idea that Piccolo could materialise Kachi Katchin or even a ship, less a combination of both?

There was a very easy way they could have drastically increased their odds of winning. Rou, Sidra stop acting like morons...

Piccolo's technique for conjuring apparel is called "materialisation sorcery". Any object the person mentally imagines is conceivable. It's this same technique that allowed Kaioshin to literally make Katchin appear out of thin air and for Kami to create a new Moon and Chaozu's body after he self-destructed in the Saiyan arc. I don't see why a ship made out of an extraterrestrial alloy would be any more difficult an idea than what has already been accomplished.

Yes but thats low level magic/sorcery thats allows the users of said magic create basic objects. So far it has been shown only deities of some sort can create something above basic objects (kami/dende/shin/Gp),so far there has been no proof of Piccolo being capable of such(maybe Babidi as well since he was so good with magic).

Even if Piccolo was capable of doing this,it would take quite a while for him to materialise something of that scale.
Grand Priest who seems to be the most powerfull and advanced user of said magic, still needed more than 44 hours to make the stage.
Even if Piccolo could create such a thing under 40 minutes, they would still need someone who is good with machines to pilot it.
And even if Piccolo himself could make it under 40 minutes and pilot it,the opponents would need to ignore Piccolo while creating said ship.
Thats a lot of ifs and unknowns for such a situation to be possible.

If only they'd brought Yamcha. Tsk.

Neither the Daizenshuu or the manga have made any distinctions in the conceivability of the technique's applications based on divinity or user status. If you want an example, the Dragon Clan of Namek supposedly created their housing and I would assume the spaceship used to transport the original Nameless Namekian to Earth as they appear to be architecturally the same.

A ship shouldn't be difficult if a large dense mass of obscured metallic alloy that's said to be the most resilient in the universe can be forged in an instant. Kami allegedly provided Piccolo with centuries worth of wisdom, this should apply to the layout of the ship and its interior. The former guardian of Earth also happened to be the one who instructed Popo on the necessary linguistics for piloting the ship, linguistics which Piccolo already was shown to be well-versed in back during the 23rd tournament before remerging with Kami. Piccolo would obviously be the one directing the ship. In relation to Daishinkan's construction of the Tournament of Power stadium, he chose to develop the ring piece by geometric piece with an intricate conical design and rotational movement. I would argue the process is more a result of Daishinkan's methods for constructing the arena very diligently.

The Universe 7 team appears to be ignored for the most part except for the Saiyans who are seeking out direct conflict. If they wanted, escaping the carnage should be doable. Use the lower undisturbed segments of the stadium to conjure some type of quasi-airstrip platform if necessary. With all of the chaos that's going on around them, it shouldn't be difficult to escape. In fact, Piccolo could just enclose his group in a sizable enough Kachi Katchin fortification with the only means in or out being a vertical shaft with a connected movable barrier that can only be turned from the inside. When the time comes to escape, one of the group opens the barrier.
