Heh, ever since I got a super cool wallpaper art of the Hyper Dimension roster, I've occasionally imagined more modernised versions of it. I do like how old school rosters really had to boil down the character selections to only the barest basics (with maybe one wild card pick), so you appreciate them a little more than you would in a massive, sprawling roster like the Budokai Tenkaichi games.
Dragon Ball Super manga
1. Son Goku (Transformations: SS1, SS2, SS3, SS God, SS Blue, Ultra Instinct Sign, Perfected Ultra Instinct) — Duh.
2. Vegeta (Transformations: SS1, SS2, SS God, SS Blue, SS Blue Evolved, Ultra Ego) — Also duh.
3. Freeza (Transformations: Final, Golden, Black) — His new Centurion card lookin' ass form won him a spot.
4. Beerus — Although he doesn't get up to much in the manga, he has always been listed alongside Goku and Vegeta as a main character in the volumes.
5. Whis — He deserves more playable appearances, separate from Beerus! I'd almost be tempted to include Whis alone, but he and Beerus are too inseparable.
6. Zamasu — A tough call, but the amazing Toriyama panel of Zamasu was my profile picture for a while, so he gets in. Since they're technically the same person, would it be cheating to squeeze Goku Black in as a tag partner or special transformation...?
7. Jiren — Toyotaro's interpretation of Jiren is a huge improvement from the anime, so this flawed hero is a shoe-in.
8. Moro — The first major Toyotaro original villain deserves a slot, even if he's as deep as a puddle.
9. Granolah — He has an entire arc named after him. Another no-brainer.
10. Gas — As much as I moan about him, he does have a memorable look, unique powers, and a large enough role in the story to justify a slot.
Super Dragon Ball Heroes
1. Son Goku (Transformations: SS1, SS2, SS3, SS God, SS Blue, Ultra Instinct Sign, Perfected Ultra Instinct... I know he has loads more but cba to list them) — No Vegeta this time, cause in Heroes, he only exists to be either a punching bag or a Fusion partner.
2. Dr. Wheelo (Transformations: Human Disguise, True Form) — A classic enemy reimagined in quite a cool way. Plus, I totally called his true identity.
3. Tullece (Transformations: Oozaru, Evil Saiyan) — Another golden oldie with a new and improved look.
4. Xeno Bardock / Warrior in Black (Transformations: Oozaru, SS1, SS2, SS3, SS4) — Bardock might as well be the face of Dragon Ball Heroes, so a no-brainer.
5. Xeno Trunks (Transformations: SS1, SS2, SS Rage, SS God) — Give him a tag team super with Dark Future Gohan.
6. Xeno Goku Black / Crimson-Masked Saiyan (Transformations: SS Rose, Rose 2, Rose 3, Rose Full Power) — I can't deny that Black looked slick as hell in the Towa mask.
7. Jiren — It's worth having at least one "unaltered" Super era character and Jiren's been in a few arcs at this point.
8. Hearts (Transformations: Super, Godslayer) — Probably the only new character introduced in Heroes who can almost rival the "canon" characters. Design, powers, personality, motivation; he ranks highly in all these categories.
9. Aeos (Transformations: Time Power Unleashed) — Would've been decent final boss material.
10. Vidro — Surprisingly, I quite enjoy this character, she's definitely an improvement on Lagss. Of course, Yamcha has to be her tag partner.
