Funny thread to speculate about their political leanings.

Goku- Doesn't understand politics. Just wants to fight

Vegeta- Left wing? Right wing? Nah he'd rather give you his right fist and then his left fist

Chi Chi- Conservative

Gohan- Progressive

Piccolo- Can barely pretend to feign interest when Gohan explains any political issue to him

Bulma- Neoliberal

Krillin- "centrist"

Trunks- Whatever rabbit hole he fell down on the internet

Goten- Whatever Trunks tell him

Android 18- Former teen anarchist mellowed out to be more moderate but still has that Fuck the Man spirit despite marrying a cop

Blooma would call me a faggot without my permission, but reason that she doesn't actually hate me because she voted for a centrist once.

Chichi: "What politics?"

Bulma: "Yeah, we have a king!"

Goku: "We have a king?"

Krillin: "Yeah, he's a dog!"

Vegeta: "I'm a Prince."

Piccolo: "My previous incarnation was a King once. Goku made sure the dog won the re-election campaign."

Goku: "I did what?"

I can’t believe people are STILL trying to cancel Bulma for what she said to General Blue. She made those comments DECADES ago, she was just a teen back then! I’m sure she’s improved as a person since!

But seriously, I imagine most of the main protagonists are hardcore libertarians. Don’t get me wrong, I hate libertarians, but that’s just the vibe I get from them. I doubt they have strong opinions on identity politics though, due to their inherent libertarian selfishness.

I already gave my silly answer so here's something more serious:

I know what you're trying to say by using the word "Libertarians," but I think looking at the Wuxia heroes that inspired the Kung Fu movie tropes that inspired Dragon Ball would really help to get away from that word and more toward understanding the genre.

In many stories (but not all!), Wuxia heroes are typically on the fringes of society and don't really involve themselves with everyday political matters related to everyday people. They often sit more in a subculture of Wulin (the Martial Arts World). They typically have their own sense of justice related to the culture of the Martial Arts World and they tend to keep matters of that world amongst themselves whenever possible.

The characters of Dragon Ball embody the concept of being part of a Martial Arts World with its own matters and affairs that sometimes spills over into regular society and sometimes doesn't.

Bulma would definitely be a libertarian, Gohan and Videl would be fairly progressive and open-minded and Roshi would be the kind of person who claims to be a feminist to try and get laid.

I'm sure Capsule Corp has excellent healthcare for LGBTQIA+ individuals thanks to Blooma.

Almost all of the Dragon Team would be some manner of anarchist or libertarian. Some of the villains would be too outside of the authoritarians like Freeza and Zamasu.

Heh. It could be funny to see some political compass meme with DB characters.

- Goku is always oblivious, so he would be politically neutral, probably not on the chart at all.
- Vegeta would be a heavily right-leaning libertarian. He prefers societies to follow Darwinian rules, so he'd definitely be a fan of the free market.
- Kuririn seems to have some socially conservative views, though I can imagine him being a swing voter.
- Gohan would be an annoying champagne socialist, preaching his enlightened Marxist views while living it up in his wife's billion-zeni mansion.
- Chichi would vote for any conservative government because she thinks they know what they're doing.
- Androids #16, #17 and #18 would all vote green.
- Kami was like a depressed former libertarian who thought it would be great if everyone had control over their own destinies, then realised to his dismay that most of humanity are only in it for themselves.
- Piccolo Daimao was all about pure, unregulated anarchy.
- Freeza was authoritarian right, obviously.
- Zamasu was an authoritarian, ethno-fascist piece of shit.
- Roshi doesn't care who runs the world, so long as she's got big tits.

Yeah, it's interesting how the protagonists in these stories operate on the outskirts of society yet are paradoxically the last line of defence against threats to it. It's funny how some of the Z-Warriors make half-hearted efforts to fit into human society, like Kuririn becoming a beat cop and Yamcha becoming a baseball star, but when they all fly out in their uniforms to fight some killer robots in a deserted wasteland somewhere, the rest of the world with its petty political conflicts fades into the distance.

Normally, i would say Vegeta and Freeza would vote for tyrants, but...real world tyrants say it's not conquest, but "liberation" and i doubt they would like such BS :)

Right? Think about being on the top of a building or in an airplane looking down at the world. Everything seems so small and insignificant. Now imagine you can instantly shoot into the sky and go anywhere you want just because you're that good at martial arts! And imagine having gone to at least one other planet. Or the afterlife and back!!

I forget worldly matters just being holed up in a dojo for two days of intense training with the top people in Japan from my organization. I can't imagine how unimportant politics are to a guy who lives in the middle of nowhere and is friends with a cartoonified blue Buddhist deity.

Goku is like Batman, he'd be apolitical, AKA, doesn't give a shit about politics.

Batman who is anti-gun, pro-cop but believes there are bad apples, seems in favor of mass incarceration but anti death penalty, and in at least in some versions funds Harvey Dent's campaign....is probably not a character I'd subscribe to being apolitical or "not giving a shit about politics"

Goku? Absolutely. Batman? Absolutely not.

Sure, Batman hates guns and wouldn't kill someone, but overall, he's pretty cynical and doesn't trust anyone, with the exception of Gordon and Alfred.

Someone that cynical doesn't strike me as political.

Batman, the guy in charge of keeping the status quo, entangled with politicians, throwing fundraisers and being part of the 1%, and going after every bad guy except those who actually run and make the world the shitty place that it is...
That doesn't sound like Goku to me, who probably doesn't even know what being political means, he might be the first apolitical person that isn't low-key conservative, he's just clueless in that regard.

Batman on the other hand is extremely political, he might not have a political party affiliation but his existence and rol are extremely political.
