Return of the Big Orange Brick (Season 2's US SJ scan)

Post by DaemonCorps » Fri Apr 20, 2007 8:32 pm

Well, I just got my June's US Shonen Jump release and flip through the pages to find an ad for Season 2. Notice how they don't mention the widescreen thing at all, either meaning that FUNi's continuing to omit information to try and boost their sales, or they're actually in 4:3 this time. I'm betting it's the first choice.

How funny would that be if they went ahead and put it out in 4:3. Just threw everybody a curve ball without any notice. That really wouldn't surprise me at all based on the history of FUNimation's maniacal mishandling of the franchise.

Also, I never noticed until now that they're calling this "Dragonball Z: Perfect". Perfect? Shit. It goes without saying that this is the Perfect release that all of the fans want.

It'd be hoping for too much to expect them to have a 4:3 release.

Well, I actually hope they continue with the damn 16:9's, I just want a consistent box set, I couldn't give a fuck if a few inches are taken off.

I think it's after Ginu is turned into a frog and Goku's put in the reduvination chamber, and then it should leave us at where Krillin sets off to Guru's house.

God if this is in fullscreen I will be very happy, with owning the ultimate Uncut Vegeta I saga discs, that means I'd only have to put up with widescreen for a small selection of episodes. But I know too well to hope here.

It's the "Complete" Namek Saga. As in Uncut.

Completely complete, guys! *sans the top and bottom.

Seriously, guys... Don't start this pointless 4:3 speculation. We know from Season One that FUNi omitted the information on their previous ads as well...

Same here, i just want the collection done. My only complaint is if they change the price.

It's Funi, maybe 4:3 will show up. Although, they might just be keeping the widescreen thing on the downlow because of previous repsones to it.

FUNimation can think whatever the hell they want, I want episodes, so I'm gonna buy'em, I'm kinda sick of how people are STILL bitching about these DVD's.

But still, don't you think it kinda sound like you don't care about quality? Even though the idea behind dvd in the first place is that picture and sound are a million times better than videotapes? You do sound like you'll buy them even if they were grainy as heck and the picture kept jumping around, and the audio was barely legible. But what the heck, even if the picture looks like shit, we'll still buy them because, dammit, it's cheap! :?

Another thing that erks me the wrong way is how Chris Sabat lent a helping hand to advertise and approve of these things. Hopefully some brave soul will chuck an egg at his face at an anime con or what not.

Yeah it has, through Pioneer's release.
