With a little bit of extra effort, FUNI could have had a nicer looking box. Anything's better than the 'big-orange thing'.
*sigh* The UK never gets anything like this.

A-F**king-men to that.
I know how you feel *double sigh*. I might buy the boxset, it depends if i have enough money. * Look in purse. Empty*

I'm thinking this might turn out like the Italian release of the DBZ movies. On the back of the DVD cover it says it is in WIDESCREEN, but in reality it's just letterboxed 4:3. For those of you who don't know what letterboxed is:
Image
Note: Not an actual image from those DVD's.

Here's the cover for DBZ Movie 13.

The video quality was actually pretty good. It was interlaced at 25fps. In my opinion, it was from a new untouched, Digi-Beta master. Somewhat like what was used for Spains "re-mastered" DBZ DVD's.

**Untouched meaning that none of the video artifacts, hairs or dust were cleaned up.

Just throwin' my two cents in.

So they were basically 4:3 images, but with black bars encoded onto them? The same thing happened with season 2 of Justice League. This is a bad move, especially when you consider that widescreen TVs have to zoom in, resulting in a blurred image. It doesn't make sense to release a widescreen show in 4:3 and screw over the widescreen TV owners.

Basically yes. Not so different from the old fansubs, or the Laser Disc and VHS releases of the movies way back when. Releasing a 4:3 show in widescreen doesn't make any sense either, that just screws everybody. :P That's a whole different subject though.

The problem with widescreen terminology is that it can really well... I dunno, fluxuate from language to language. I remember people thinking that the DBZ movies in the Dragonbox would be letterboxed and therefore matted widescreen, as shown above, but what wasnt taken ito account was that the Japanese use Letterbox to describe widescreen in general.

Very weird.

If the french forums/weebsites are right,(like I postd earlier),
the cover-template has wrong marking, it really will be 16:9, not 4:3

Wow. Very nice. It looks like my hunch about the collector cards was right. It looks like each one is the original JP poster for the movies. This box set is looking better by the day. The Dragon background looks really nice. Shame about the 'Path to Power' movie though.

Why the hell can't FUNI do something like this?

BUT WHAT DOES THE BLOODY BOOK'S INSIDES LOOK LIKE?!?!

This is a fantastic boxset. If I didn't own all the movies already I'd probably buy it. Even then, depending on what it's that book... :P

And I wantses the cardses...

Pricedrop again. This boxset's now 39.99 Euro at www.alapage.fr
And as this wasn't enough, it seems like you get a reduction of 10 euro, if you use a special coupon, but I won't be posting that up before I can confirm it being real (tried using it, but i couldn't find anywhere to insert it).

Click on 'aide' at the bottom left and then 'Paiement' on the left and scroll down to where it says 'Le chèque cadeau ou bon d'achat'. It looks like you can use a gift code after selecting your payment method.

Sangofe has a gift code for €10, but doesn't know how to use it on the site.

Sangofe, any chance of posting it? (assuming it works for more than one person)

Ooohhh... l337 memory skills here.

I wouldn't ask him to give that info. Giftcodes are usually only valid until submitted. If he posts it here before buying, someone could unintentionally steal it from him by using it before him.

I don't think I'm getting crazy at all. Honestly, I like the way that the dragons wraps around the DVD "book".

To me, this:

Just doesn't look as good.

But I'll say this, the disc designs on the French box are kind of lacking.
