Recoome Scan
I'm looking for a manga scan of when Recoome is powering up, and gets hit by Goku...Anyone have that part and a scanner? A question will come up if someone can show it to me. Thanks!

Thanks, so here's the question...In the manga, it looks like he's about to do a ki explosion, and it's always been his ultimate in the games...So why does he try to punch Goku in the anime, instead of charging, and why in Season 2 does he say "Eraser Gungh!". He says eraser, then gets hit. Why would Toei change a little animation that did nothing but stray away from the original source? And why would FUNimation change the attack? To better fit Toei's animation?

It's Toei and FUNimation. Who knows what they're smoking.

In the original version anime, the attack as translated by Steve "Daimao" Simmons is the ReaCoom Ultra Fighting Miracle Attack. I don't know if it translates this same way in the manga, though, since the two have always had notable differences. (And if someone can remember how this attack was listed in the games, that'd scratch an itch that my failing memory is having at the moment.)
Why FUNimation changed this attack to a second Eraser Gun in their dub, I'm not entirely sure. Probably as a way of making sure that the audience "knows" what was coming and is thus further spellbound by Goku's ease in putting a halt to it, rather than have them sit there wondering just what attack they missed out on. I dunno, FUNi logic is weird.

Ah, thanks. For some reason I can remember the attack animation and that he's screaming it a specific way, just not the words that go along with it.

From what I remember that's how it goes in the anime too.Maphisto86 wrote:I actually like the manga a little better because Goku just comes out of nowhere. He's standing there one moment and then BOOM! Goku: "Sorry!..."

It is. We see an extreme closeup of ReaCoom's screaming head just before it changes to an expression of utter pain when Goku's blow impacts from below and offscreen.
Interestingly enough, the way Toei chose to illustrate this impact in the Z anime during Vegeta's flashback sequence (Episode 280) is directly modeled after the lower right-hand corner manga panel shown here. Given how closely Toei follows the manga's art direction throughout most of the series, I wonder why the scene wasn't handled this way the first time through?

Reacoom does say Eraser Gun in the anime...and gets ready to charge at Goku. o_O Both dub and original. It's not the first time Toei made a flub.
