I came across this guy at Animagic in 2005. I asked to take a pic, and he was like "Wait up," and he puts sandals on the floor and kneels on them to get Yajirobe's stubby legs better.

And I came across this pair cosplaying as Teen Goten and Trunks and Anime Expo this year.

Those are some awesomely authentic-looking boots. X3

I've never cosplayed before, but I think the only character I could pull off without having to resort to wigs or hair dye would be Paresu.
There aren't that many brunette women in Dragon Ball. ^^;

I've always wanted to cosplay as a Sentai hero or walk around in the Shaider suit or somebody a random Star Wars cannon fodder character like a Stormtrooper or even a Jedi/Sith but I found Anime and Video Game cosplay to be harder since it doesn't translated into real life as well. Granted I'm talking about cosplaying as already live action things but still I don't know why.

I've seen great cosplay though from anime and video games but I've always come up short on the Dragon Ball cosplay for some reason.
Be grateful the filler in Dragon Ball doesn't suck like the 3rd arc of Rurouni Kenshin.

I know DBZ is FROM japan and most cosplay-ers are japanese but i always have a little laugh within myself bc most of the chars are obviously white - id say "american" but some people take offense to that.
I dunno. Being that when I watch the anime or play the games I've got the Japanese voices on, they're not doing the "American accent" that characters portrayed as Japanese-speaking Americans have in anime, and they were originally written by Japanese people for Japanese audiences, I generally don't see most anime characters as "obviously white."

There are obvious exceptions, of course, such as black people and characters that are stated to have come from other places besides Japan (in anime and games that take place in our world). A good example would be Terry Bogard, who was obviously written as an American and is given certain catch phrases that are stereotypically American from a Japanese perspective.

This is especially true for someone like Naruto. I remember in one of the manga there was an extra drawing Kishimoto did of what Naruto would look like when drawn realistically and he was obviously Asian despite the yellow hair and his non-Japanese demeanor.

Now that I've completely side-tracked this thread, I'm sorry.

Those are some cool pics, though.

Saw this Bardock too:

And two variations on Gohan and Videl

Also NeptuneKai, some people don't want to be limited in what they do. Hence why Kenshin is one of my trademarks though I'm taller and different ethnic background as him.

Actually, I'm also a cosplayer since this year and I'm going to go as teenage Trunks too on 2009, and I bought her Trunks' jacket!! She offered it to me and well it's pretty hard to say no when you lack any sewing skills.

Here's a picture of me wearing that same jacket, just look at how gorgeous it is! *o* I will bind my chest when I do the cosplay, of course.

Also, last convention me and my friend went as Bulma and Videl. It was our second time cosplay so don't be rude :( Here's me as Bulma. I wanted to braid the wig but that didn't work so I went with the other hairstyle.

I'll actually be re-using the wig for my Bra cosplay in 2009. I already have the hairband, choker, earrings and gloves.

Here's my friend as Videl. Also her second cosplay ever. She will accompany me as teenage Goten when I go as teenage Trunks.

When I will be Bra she's thinking to go as teen ChiChi. Also, the con after that I'll probably be future Trunks and she will hopefully be future Gohan.

Glay and QuantumDestiny are my DB cosplay heroes!! ^_^ Anyway, DragonBall cosplay is a lot of fun and I heard that there will be a DragonBall cosplay group at the upcoming convention which is at the end of next week. :D I'll take pictures!!

Ben Nye is seriously the best make-up out there. It's widely used in film and television, as well as theatre and I always say it's a must for pulling off a good cosplay. When I do my cosplays it is anyway. 8) You can find Ben Nye products in lots of places, especially online too. If you live near any type of costume and/or theatre stores, most carry them.

I haven't been to an anime convention in years, but maybe if someone from here would meet me at one I might go...Kaboom, I think you live close to me

Well, if my hair grows back in time (I use to have awesome long hair but cut it a month ago cause I am stupid), I might finally dress up as Future Trunks from Movie 9. And unlike most cosplayers, I am muscular and athletic so I wont look stupid with my arms exposed.

I'm considering Body-building for a year then go somewhere as Goku.

The thing is though, I have no idea how it works.

Probably just a bad idea.

DB cosplay is insanely fun. And colorful. For serious. *points to avatar* (That's me cosplaying Luffy in Goku's gi, OP/DB crossover-style.)

I think I kind of know what you're getting at, but apart from the factual statement that DBZ is from Japan, the rest is not necessarily true: You don't have to be of any specific ethnicity in order to cosplay. It's all about the attitude and having fun. ^^

I really don't care if a black dude were to be Kenshin or an Asian guy be Guile in cosplay. Its just cosplay and its meant for fun. I just hate those comments that are like, "All peepz in animu are obviously white, yo. Especially people like Kenshin."

I agree, it is meant to be in all good fun.

But if you get the scar on the wrong side of the face...I may lose my shit!

Jk, but the things you can't control, you can't control. And that is that.

Been so long since I saw the Bardock special I didn't notice it. But don't worry Forgotten Hero as I got the scar on the right side.

And that pic of you as Chibi Trunks makes you look cute (in the hawt fashion).
