Numerous electronic, video, and board games based on the works of Akira Toriyama have been released in Japan by various developers across different platforms. Though initially producted in conjunction with Epoch, the majority of these games were historically developed or published by Bandai (currently "Bandai Namco Entertainment"), a relationship that continues to this day.
While some of the earlier games were localized and released to the European market, this was not the case in North America. Up until the release of Dragon Ball: Final Bout in 1997 for the Sony PlayStation, none of the Dragon Ball games were localized for the North American market, with the exception of Dragon Ball: The Mystery of Shenlong which was released under the title "Dragon Power" and graphically altered with no specific branding for the franchise.
In the modern era, most mainline video games are produced with an international market in mind, though certain products — namely those for the mobile market, and particularly in areas like China — may occasionally be region-restricted.
