Humans (人間 ningen) can be many races in Dragon Ball, including alien races. The term is sometimes translated as "mortals" to distinguish "humans" from the gods, who are also mortal, but humans can also be distinguished from artificial humans, animal-type characters, monsters, and demons.

In Dragon Ball Super, Zamasu frequently refers to all non-god beings as ningen, but Akira Toriyama also used the term to refer to characters who are not strictly homo sapiens. This page documents the ambiguity of the term.
