It all depends on the product, I believe. I've heard some people say they've gotten One Piece volumes a few weeks early, but not too much beyond that. You're probably better off asking them yourself over Twitter or something. I've heard similar things from Shout! Factory with one of the Super Sentai sets they released. Can't remember which one exactly, but I think it was either Zyuranger, or Dairanger's set that got shipped 2 weeks earlier if you ordered it from their site than other, third party, sites. I still ordered from Amazon, because they had it almost $20 cheaper, but you catch my drift.ShadowDude112 wrote:Does Rightstuf still ship stuff like two weeks early with pre-orders? It's not the redub I wanted, but it's something. I really am glad that we have this.Scsigs wrote:Actually, season 3 won't air until the summer. That was essentially a Treehouse of Horror episode, a one-off noncanon April Fools episode meant to tide fans over until then, much like how Sherlock had the special in between Series 3 & 4 to tide fans over another year. Many things were just off on a few levels when it comes to that episode, even though it was still enjoyable.Footlong Shoe wrote:Kai may not be airing tonight, they've been running the Season 3 premiere of Rick and Morty all night so far.
Anyways, I'm glad I'm watching these episodes again, with an, ultimately, better & all around reliable dub. I remember watching the saga through the original dub on the Dragon Boxes &, even though I enjoyed it a fair amount, It was just held back by the poor scripting & direction of the time. I just feel better with this dub, it's how the series should've been treated 20 years ago.

I get your meaning. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you strike me as one of the fans that's not completely happy unless everything's 100% the same, right down to the casting, to the Japanese version. Personally, I'm looking for dialogue translation & scripting to be both consistent & well done. As long as the cast fit their characters & the mistranslations aren't too severe & only account for a few lines here & there. FUNi are usually pretty good at handling dialogue in clever ways, especially when the TFS references for DBZK can actually get through, unlike some other studios.Jinzoningen MULE wrote:It's not the redub I wanted, but it's something. No offense to them, but the writing could be a bit better at Studiopolis for their dubs. It comes off as a translation that's only been tweaked because it needs to be half the time with them, in my opinion, & not something that's more natural. They're decent, but not perfect. I feel FUNi gets the job done extremely well most of the time.

Not at all. I'm mostly fine with the Kai dub, I just don't like Kai itself very much (although I don't dislike it nearly as much as I used to, to be fair). I would have vastly prefered a redub of Z, since I enjoy watching it more in almost every conceivable aspect.Scsigs wrote:I get your meaning. Ah. I've been thinking about that myself. Personally, if they'd start a gofundme campaign for a redub of Z, I'd support it. Fund an actual remastering of the series for Blu-Ray, fund a good redub, keep the old dub with the Falconer score for the nostalgia brats, & use the Japanese music for the fans that want things done right. Also, no cropping. Z's, literally, the property that put them on the map & they keep treating it like shit for some reason I can't fathom. It's time for that to stop.Jinzoningen MULE wrote:Not at all. I'm mostly fine with the Kai dub, I just don't like Kai very much. We know they have decent color-corrected footage around from the Level Sets. It was altered for the Season Blu-rays, but I'd bet they still have the original. They could use Kai 1.0 level DVNR and everyone would be fine outside of some initial whining. The most difficult part would be re-removing most of the film damage (I doubt they got very far with the Level masters) and re-mixing the English track.Scsigs wrote:Personally, if they'd start a gofundme campaign for a redub of Z, I'd support it. Of course, it'll never actually happen. Toei considers Kai the "HD DBZ" and Funimation can't be trusted. It'll just have to remain a dream of mine. Eventually, I probably will give in, take the loss and keep Kai as my go-to version.

Yeah, their prices aren't the best, but I ordered stuff like my Dragon Boxes because I could get them early. If that's out, I may as well not use them anymore. I remember I got the Resurrection 'F' Blu-ray early, but not by much. By like, maybe a few days.Metalwario64 wrote:I'm not exactly sure, because I haven't bought from them in a few years (they don't have the most competitive prices), but I believe some people have said that they've been slipping on that as of late.ShadowDude112 wrote:Does Rightstuf still ship stuff like two weeks early with pre-orders? I've actually thought about that for the Bardock and Trunks specials because, if anything needs re-dubbing, it's the Bardock special. Obviously I'd prefer a complete re-dub of the original series and some of the movies as well, but I think, realistically, funding a re-script and re-dub of at least the Bardock special (Trunks special, too, so Funi could sell the two as a new re-dub package) would be totally possible. I'm actually serious about this and would love to contact someone within Funimation to discuss setting something like this up. Haven't they done gofundme/kickstarter-like campaigns for dubs in the past? I seem to recall at least one...Scsigs wrote:Personally, if they'd start a gofundme campaign for a redub of Z, I'd support it.

I'd rather have Funimation just redub the last half of season 2 and all of season 3 aka the Namek and Freeza arc.IAmTheMilkMan wrote:I've actually thought about that for the Bardock and Trunks specials because, if anything needs re-dubbing, it's the Bardock special. I would be so up for this. The Bardock special dub is absolutely the worst dubbed thing that doesn't have Kai to replace it.IAmTheMilkMan wrote:I've actually thought about that for the Bardock and Trunks specials because, if anything needs re-dubbing, it's the Bardock special. Anyway, if we were to get a theoretical DBZ TV series redub, they could probably cut costs by reusing dialogue from Kai where possible. It'd cut the amount of material to be recorded by about half. A redub of the original DB would be good too, the existing dub for that series isn't too bad, but it could be so much better.

Unfortunately, TFC just had a "Dude! My truck!" moment with the announcer saying something about Spopovich being a "human meat bag", and then saying "that was terrible! Who writes my lines?"
Definitely not funny, and was unnecessary.

While I agree, any improvements in the redub would be ruined by having Colleen as Goku.SaiyamanMS wrote:IAmTheMilkMan wrote:A redub of the original DB would be good too, the existing dub for that series isn't too bad, but it could be so much better.

Clinkenbeard isn't perfect, but she has far more range and is better at acting than Nadolny ever was. Still, the best English Gohan, at least in terms of sounding like an actual kid was probably Saffron Henderson.

I don't mind Clinkenbeard as either Goku and Gohan, although I prefer Nadolny and Henderson respectively.

Vale as the announcer continues to rock Bulma using Trolled too pretty funny. Music was pretty decent actually Supreme Kai's theme is actually pretty good and it is hilarious seeing Piccolo's reaction to him considering how lame Supreme Kai turns out.
Honestly thinking to not watch any more eps and save for the BD.

I still maintain that she was a miscast, even after re-examining the dub. Don't get me wrong, Clinkenbeard is a great VA. Her #18 worked, past work of hers makes me think she'd make a good Chichi if a replacement was ever needed. In fact, I think she has the range to play any female or child character on the show (minus Pilaf and Shu). I even enjoyed her Goku in Blood Rubies, but she demonstrated to me through Kai that she has a fundamental lack of understanding of who Gohan is. Notably, she's always over-emoting his aggression without giving proper attention to Gohan's hesitant nature, which is in direct opposition to what a VA needs to do with Gohan.Metalwario64 wrote:Clinkenbeard isn't perfect, but she has far more range and is better at acting than Nadolny ever was. I know a lot of people hate Colleen Clinkenbeard as Kid/Teen Gohan, I personally don't. She's alright. Her voice could've been a bit deeper after Gohan's SS2 transformation, and I will agree that her screams are kinda too shrilly. But, even if you guys hate Colleen as Gohan, can we agree that Kyle Hebert is still a great voice for Adult Gohan?Jinzoningen MULE wrote:I still maintain that she was a miscast, even after re-examining the dub. I love his Saiyaman, his regular Gohan is just okay. I wouldn't call Nozawa's Post-childhood Gohan voice great either, though. Neither performance is bad, but it's just one of those cases where when I see Gohan, and the voice that comes out of him doesn't match what I'm looking at.Dragon Ball Gus wrote:Can we agree that Kyle Hebert is still a great voice for Adult Gohan?

You can't blame Colleen for emoting wrongly, that blame has to fall on the ADR director for making her act that way. So your blame lies with Sabat.Jinzoningen MULE wrote:I still maintain that she was a miscast, even after re-examining the dub. Don't get me wrong, Clinkenbeard is a great VA.
