The statement that Vegeta dies first.
I think I read somewhere on this board and on the internet in general that there was some sort of interview from a long time ago with Mr. Toriyama where he answered a series of questions as though it was a survey.
He mentioned something about 'of the main cast, Vegeta would die first', and that he would die suddenly from stress. (Or something to that effect.)
How true is this and where was the quote from?
I believe it survey also had things about who in the cast Mr. Toriyama would want to be, which character he'd pick for a mom, who would pass away last, etc.

You mean after the end of the Buu arc? I've never seen this interview, but that statement does contradict that Saiyans live longer. Or rather, that they have an extended youth. Come to think of it, this doesn't necessarily mean they live longer.
I could see Vegeta suffering from stress. He gave up on his ultimate purpose of surpassing Goku, so now he doesn't have a major goal in life. I can imagine that can put a lot of stress on him. Living peacefully is just so against his nature.

It's all GOOD

That statement comes from the "Akira Toriyama's Best" sections in Daizenshuu 4. These are a series of one to two page pieces spread throughout the daizenshuu that have Toriyama giving short replies to various questions, most of which involve his favorite things from the series. The thing about Vegeta dieing first comes from the the character section:
I translated all of the "Akira Toriyama's Best" bits and posted them here.Q: Who seems like they will live the longest, and who seems like they will die the earliest?
Looks like he’ll live long: Kame-sennin
“It seems that he will live a surprisingly long time”
Looks like he’ll die early: Vegeta
“Everybody dies eventually, but Vegeta seems like he has high blood pressure so he’ll probably go suddenly”
Kanzenshuu: Is that place still around?
Sometimes, I tweet things
We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

Oh Jesus no doubt about it, although it kind of is his fault, he leaves so much to speculation we sort of get stuck in this mode where he want to analyze everything.testing223 wrote:Yeah, people need to stop reading too much into off-the-cuff jokes made. Toriyama could say "I've always thought Yajirobe could've been the strongest if he'd done some exercise, hahaha" and we'd see a 10 page argument over it.TheGreatness25 wrote:Seems like he "made a funny".
