Episode #0404! Mike discusses Dragon Ball and general anime marketing with Lance Heiskell, former marketing director and director of corporate strategy with FUNimation. How did the fan culture of the time affect "Dragon Ball GT" marketing? What were the decisions behind Dragon Ball Z re-releases up through the latest Blu-ray sets, and how did the "Rock the Dragon" set fit into the picture? Also, why is it that "Dragon Ball Super" does not have a simulcast?!

Enjoy! I was slightly better with the second mic on this one compared with last week. If I ever do interviews on the road again, I'll just buckle down and buy another SM-58. Enjoy!

Great interview. Feel like you could've leaned a little harder on the aspect ratio not being the reason for the orange bricks' success (it's obviously episode count and price-point), but surely most parties involved realize that anyway, and one day there will be another release.
It was cool to hear about the original plans for the "Rock the Dragon" set. Shame it didn't happen, but at the time the market was so saturated with Z releases it was probably a pipe dream.

That ending shortened my life span.

Awesome listen! It would be really cool if he was right and they're just waiting for DBS episodes to pile up to play daily on Cartoon Network.
