It seems that the free chapters from Viz's site are being restricted as their respective volumes are released. Not at all a surprise, and barely even an inconvenience given the cost and frequency of the volume releases, just thought I'd put it out there.

I figured that would happen. Once they've put out the proper volume release, leaving the chapters up for free is essentially just costing them potential sales, and from my experience reading in Amazon's Silk browser on my Fire HD they don't seem to make much effort to actually monetize the free chapters (I only get a single ad after a few page turns, advertising other Viz stuff like the Full Color volumes).

Got my physical copy today, and... wow! I have to admit, I was skeptical of those who praised these, going on about how great Toyotaro's art looks on paper, but they were 100% right. If you're on the fence, don't be! At this price, you should buy it even if you don't like the manga.

Something interesting I've noticed: In the table of contents, each chapter is referred to as an "episode". However, when you get to the actual chapters, they are referred to as "chapters". Wondering if it's intentional or not.

So it just occurred to me that we finally have a name for Viz's translator for Super. According to the volume credits, the translation is done by Toshikazu Aizawa.

Is it though? France or Germany can't remember which one is releasing Vol 2 in JULY!!!!Theophrastus wrote:It seems to be generally assumed that there's some weird-ass mandate from Shueisha that Viz aren't allowed to release a given volume of a series until at least X months after the Japanese release (which seems to vary by series). This typically results in volume releases being somewhere around 9-14 months behind the original Japanese release (in this case, volume 2 coming out in December would put it 12 months behind).Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Finally! Get to support Toyotaro! But seriously December for Vol 2.... is a joke.
It's weird and doesn't seem to make a great deal of sense, but I think Viz's hands are tied here, to some degree at least.
It seems Viz has a habbit of releasing stuff slow reading a few comments about people complaining about Viz's slow release of the HxH anime.
Regardless of who is behind it, releasing Vol 1 in May and then Vol 2 more than half a year later in December is too ridiculous man.

So, based on some posts above, you guys would recommend buying volume 1 even if you've already read the chapters? Maybe I'll look into it; it'd probably look good on my shelf!

Based on owning the manga, I'd recommend you buy it. It's pretty, it'll look good on a shelf, and it's the best way to read as far as I'm concerned. Also, there's a short interview at the end of it. Not a new one, but it's a nice bonus.Anime Kitten wrote:So, based on some posts above, you guys would recommend buying volume 1 even if you've already read the chapters? Seems that Viz hasn't posted their translation on viz.com yet. Is V-Jump not fully out yet? That might explain why.

Damn, that is one ugly font for the title there

Can somebody give a literal Japanese translation of those sentences? Also, can someone post the raw Japanese panels for the equivalent scenes? I'd like to know if the equivalent Japanese to "Fake News" (according to Wikipedia), "虚偽報道", appears there.Reporter: Now we have something that was never fully explained. There are firsthand accounts saying that this young man was standing alone in the spot where Cell disappeared. Would you happen to know anything about it?
...
Mr. Satan: That's just fake news.
