This is several years old, but still interesting maybe that Toriyama is not on this list, while Kuramada is on it, whose fame is mostly based on Saint Seiya. I can't imagine he would receive that much from the more recent Ring ni Kakero 1 anime series...
Toriyama would have less money if he didn't make the Cell/Boo Saga.

I don't doubt that there are a fair share of manga-ka that are decently loaded, in fact Takahashi wouldn't surprise me as one of those examples at all. I'm also not necassarily saying they have to be "struggling" artists anywhere, but fact is, the money's not generally THAT big no matter what. That, and as I think many of you guys know, especially in the case of artists for Shonen Jump, they have about a grand totally of like five SECONDS of time to themself.

Masashi Kishimoto must be making a boat load of money from Naruto. He was 3rd on the list back in 05 even. I can only imagine how distributing it to America has helped him.

Amazing to see that Toriyama isn't on the list, but then again since Dragonball Toriyama's been pretty low-key. I bet he was on top of the list in the early to mid '90s.

List or not, I'm pretty sure he and probably up to his (great ?) grand kids are made from Dragon Ball fame.

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

Liefeld's a millionaire? Shit, you have to be kidding me.

Anyway, the phrase "starving artist" comes to mind, but considering Toriyama's a creator and not just someone who came along and drew someone else's stuff, I'd imagine he gets a fair amount from royalties. A multi millionaire? In terms of dollars, I don't see it as likely for some reason. But I'd wager he leads a comfortable lifestyle by now.

Nope he made a bunch of money in the early 90s boom.
