DragonBall references in other video games
Now, this is a bit of an odd one. But, hey maybe you guys have seen some instances of DragonBall being referenced in other video games and wanna share it with everyone. There is one that sticks out in my mind. In Team Fortress 2, occasionally when the Pyro taunts, he does the Kamehame-Ha motions and a little fire ball comes out of his hands. Now this may just be a Street Fighter reference, or nothing at all. But, I like to think of it as a Kamehame-Ha.... So what have you guys seen?

In one of the Worms games (Armageddon, I think), there's a weapon named "Dragon Ball" that consists of whoever uses it performing a series of martial arts moves.
Then in Power Stone there's this character that is incredibly similiar to Goku. I think there was a whole thread on him awhile back.
In Marvel vs Capcom 2, there's a character named SonSon who is based off of the Monkey King, but she has one movie where she essentially becomes an oozaru and shoots ki blasts from her mouth. Since I don't think the original Monkey King did anything like that (though he could transform into giant demonic forms, they always had multiple limbs and I don't think they were ever described as being monkey-like), I think this is a Dragon Ball reference.

In "No More Heroes" for the Wii (buy this game!) the main character has a few powered up states he can enter to help take out the enemies. One of them involves his hair becoming blonde and his beam katana having lightning bolts crackling around it.

1. In Dragon Quest on PS2, when you psyche up to 100 as the main character, you can transform into something which resembles SSJ2.
It was totally bad-ass the first time it happened; I was fighting Dhoulmagus, and he had already killed two of my team members. I was a bit pissed, and desperate. I thought I could get some serious damage in by psyching up then striking... then to my amazement, BOOM! He transformed! I was like, 'You're gonna pay for all the evil you have caused!'
2. In Fahrenheit on PS2, you can do some Dragonball-style fighting, where you charge up and unleash your energy blasts. There's also wicked action sequences when you're fighting in the air, at high speed. The action sequences also resemble The Matrix.

Samson also has something that resembles Goku's powerpole.Herms wrote:In one of the Worms games (Armageddon, I think), there's a weapon named "Dragon Ball" that consists of whoever uses it performing a series of martial arts moves.

Yeah, but that was most likely a reference to the original Monkey King and his staff, rather than the nyoibo.Super Saiyan Turlast x4 wrote:Samson also has something that resembles Goku's powerpole.

And in Sonic3/Knuckles, there are actually too stages of super sonic... though I'm not sure how to access the second without debug mode. It basically involves lots of glowy aura-ness and when he does an air-attack, there's a large screen-covering flash of light... umm... and I think it's cool.NECPS wrote:And dont forget about Sonic (the second game)
where if you can get all seven emeralds (in the first game was only 6)
Sonic jumps and his hair rises shining and stuff..
Stuff stolen I say
(... and apparently in the Sonic comics, he used a form similar to SSJ3 when fighting chaos...).
My first impression of Jin's transfrmation in Marvel Vs Capcom was "blah he's gold and glowy and powered up!ssj11!". Which kind of falls on its face simply with the pallet swap being silver, not to mention... other... stuff...

You have to find all the regular Chaos Emaralds (through the stages of Sonic 3), and the Master Emeralds (in Sonic & Knuckles).Super Sonic is cool, but Hyper Sonic can breathe under water !And in Sonic3/Knuckles, there are actually too stages of super sonic... though I'm not sure how to access the second without debug mode. Well, considering Yuji Naka, former head of Sonic Team, is a Dragonball fan, (He had the show taped and mailed to him every week while he was in the US, working with STI on Sonic 2.) it shouldn't be a surprise that several elements from DBZ were used in the Sonic series. It doesn't stop with just the Super Sonic thing. Shadow was meant to be the "Vegeta" to Sonic's "Goku". And, of course, Silver = Trunks.
Anyways, I'm surprised Tekken 5 hasn't been mentioned yet, specifically, the customizations. Jin is able to wear a halo. Kazuya has "Vegeta hair". Wang's outfit can be customized to make him look like Master Roshi. There's probably a few more I haven't managed to find yet, and I'm sure Tekken 6 will have loads more references.

In the Create a Superstar mode in WWE Day of Reckoning, you can give your character Vegeta's Armour from the Jinzoningen Arc. (It's just called Battle Armour). Plus one of the hairstyles (called Super) is basically just Super Saiyajin Goku's hair.
And in the Kreate a Fighter mode in Mortal Kombat Armageddon, you can use base Goku's hair (called Anime). There's also a Layered Gi and boots that look like Goku's.

I think every THQ produced WWE game has had Goku's Super Saiyan hair in its CAW mode. At least the ones up to the first Smackdown Vs. Raw. My interest in the series, and in wrestling itself, pretty much disappeared before the second SVR came out, so I'm not quite sure on games after that.Casual Matt wrote:In the Create a Superstar mode in WWE Day of Reckoning, you can give your character Vegeta's Armour from the Jinzoningen Arc.
