The best fight in the franchise in terms of both art & animation?
Concerning the OG, Z, GT, and Super animes; which fight(s) actually looked the best, just in terms of art and animation? Nothing else...
Re: 'The best fight in the franchise in terms of Art & Animation?
Pretty much the entire DBS: Broli movie by a fairly wide margin.

Vegeta vs Recoom. Just looking at the fight you can almost feel the blows as they land and the art was consistent throughout.
Only thing I didn't like were the explosions, when Vegeta landed his "unnamed Final Flash" and Recoome his Eraser Gun. They made several explosions for those attacks instead of just one huge one each.

DBZ: Goku vs. Cell

DBS: Vegito vs. Fused Zamasu

These are the ones that come to mind first when I think of beautiful art and fluid animation.
I agree that the Broly movie in general was also very good, as was mentioned already.

This is going to be unpopular opinion for sure, but i think Goku vs Super 17 fight had some outstanding visuals. If we talk about movies, then Path to Power is still the best looking DB movie for me and the last fight was amazing as well, especially that glorious kamehameha.
I overall pay more attention to art than animation.

I love the episode Pathos of Frieza, were Goku has clearly overpowered him and outright humiliates him. Those gut punches and Frieza's pained reaction to them look incredible. Goku looks awesome throughout. The scene were he powers down to base also looks great, as you can see his muscles visibly shrink. And the scene were he transforms back into Super Saiyan also looks really cool.
Another one is towards the end of Goku vs Majin Vegeta, were we see some incredible choreography. They taking turns tripping eachother up and exchanging blows, and at one point they're just headbutting eachother.
The SS2 Goku vs Kid Buu filler fight is underrated too. I love the scenes of the planet distorting in the background as they exchange blows. The sky turning dark and the lightning make it really dramatic.
It is hard to argue with Gogeta vs Broly to be fair though.

Goku vs Piccolo Jr, probably. As for modern stuff, Gogeta vs Broly is the clear pick.

It's obviously Super Broly but
Goku against the Bio-Warriors is also awesome.
Also this. I love this sequence.dbgtFO wrote: ↑Wed Dec 15, 2021 7:11 am Vegeta vs Recoom. Just looking at the fight you can almost feel the blows as they land and the art was consistent throughout.

I personally didn't like artstyle of that movie and quality went downhill near the end. Animation was great though.

SSJ2 Goku vs Kid Buu
Re: 'The best fight in the franchise in terms of Art & Animation?
I don’t think there is a more spectacular looking fight so far than Vegeta vs Broly in super.
In my opinion there isn't one that looks smoother in the way the choreography was animated, and even the facial expressions than this one.
Extra points for the scenery being absolutely breathtaking.
It does have some strategic edits that are left unnoticed thanks to the extremely fast speed to make Vegeta look better in the fight, so I don’t consider it a totally “organic” or a 100% honest one. But it’s visually stunning and the choreography itself was really nice
Similar feeling about Goku VS Frieza fight in RoF, really great animation, visually pleasing! This one I just wished it was longer.
Also yes, these that were already mentioned: Goku VS Cell and Goku SS3 VS Kid Buu

I dunno, man. If there was an award for "best fight in the franchise in terms of both art and animation", it'd be tied between MUI Goku vs Jiren, Gogeta Blue vs Broly, and maybe Vegetto (just learned that it was actually meant to be spelled Vegetto and not Vegito) Blue vs Merged Zamasu. They all look spectacular. Truly a sight to behold!

Re: The best fight in the franchise in terms of both art & animation?
In my opinion:
DB
Goku vs Piccolo Jr
DBZ
Goku vs Vegeta - first fight
Goku vs Frieza - Namek fight
Goku vs Cell
Vegito vs Buu
DBGT
I can't remember this unfortunately.
DB Super
Vegeta vs Hitto
Trunks vs Zamasu
Gohan vs Barry
Master Roshi vs Ganos
Frieza vs Frost
Jiren vs Goku, Frieza, Vegeta and Android 17
This is for the TV series. The films generally have higher quality art/animation so their fights are generally better.

Re: The best fight in the franchise in terms of both art & animation?
If we're only counting TV animation, then probably Goku's warm up match with kid Boo. It just had incredible choreography and the most fluid fight animation of that whole saga. And it's probably one of the most standout points from an animation perspective in the series as a whole.
We need a Steve Simmons retranslation of the manga.
