What is Recoome?

Post by Genki-Dama » Sat Jun 28, 2008 2:00 pm

Recoome is a human, right? So is he from Earth or another planet?

No, he's just a humanoid looking alien. Kinda like most sci-fi have aliens that look humans but aren't human.

Just remember, he's not an android... no matter what the old edited dub of Season 2 tells you.

The Ginyu force refer to themselves as mutants with exceptionally high power levels. So Recoome is just that, a mutant from among a humanoid race. Considering that, the rest of his kind weren't as strong as him, perhaps even as weak as regular humans.
Imagine that... suddenly there's someone who's überpowerful. You can kiss your world goodbye :P If you were Recoome in that situation, what would you do? Would you become a tyrant? I'd imagine that Recoome got pretty bored being the only one with such power on his planet. He must have been so happy when he met Freeza & co.
It's all GOOD

Some awesome/humurous backstories regarding the Ginyu Force's original assembling and each individual would have been superb.

I've always wanted more information on the various races and Freeza's/King Cold's galactic organization. I mean, they're just the universe's mob, aren't they? And we never fully understand about any of the races except Saiyajins and Nameks. It's quite a shame that the next saga left the universe behind, because more exposition of it would've been cool.

The only one we really get a slight insight into his Guldo, and even that is a very minute explanation when a younger Vegeta is taunting him informing the green alien he should be cleaning floors.

We know very little about their history, I would certainly enjoy an episode or movie dedicated to the Saiyans and Freeza's other co-workers origins.

Recoome being a mutant seems to have only increased his power, not his intelligence, or his articulation.

Well could the "mutation" be the thing that made him so....stupid and silly? It's just like Viagra, you win some and then you lose some.

Ya, that makes sense too, we'll never know unless we ever see Recoomes original species.

I also noticed that in my opinion Recoome looks (and acts) an awful lot like Sloth from The Goonies:

It's not a very good comparison, but anyone who knows the two characters should see where I'm coming from.

Haha, ridiculous and funny.

Anyhow, Is it true that Salza and Jeice are of the same species? I remember that's what BT3 said, and it leads me to believe that it came from one of the daizenshuu, since all there info is based heavily on it.

They certainly look similar. Could be a lazy character design, however.

Does anyone know if they such similar voices in the Japanese version? That would help clarify it.

They were voiced by the same voice actor in Japanese, Shou Hayami. The connection between the two is, if I remember right, that they are from the same star system. According to information that was on the Japanese Wikipedia page for DBZ movie 5 this was background information for the character thought up by the staff, and it was revealed in an issue of Weekly Jump that came out before the movie premiered. The Jheeze/Sauzer star system thing is not in any of the daizenshuu, as far as I know, but another bit of information that is supposed to have also come from that same issue of Weekly Jump is: that Sauzer is from Planet Brench, and knows over 7,000 language. Daizenshuu 7 refers to this odd fact in its section on the languages of the DragonBall world. It refers to it nowhere else, not even in the bio of Sauzer in the character dictionary (Daizenshuu 6, the one that covers the movies, doesn't seem to mention it either).

It's actually a rather intriguing comparison. I never thought of that.

Racoome never seemed stupid to me at all. I mean he wasn't smart or educated but he isn't as dumb as Funimation makes him out to be.

Well, he's not an idiot. Maybe I could say that he was just overly silly or maybe he doesn't notice that he acts this way. The same way he didn't notice that his ass was exposed to the public. Or did he already know?

I think he didn't care, who's going to correct you on that when you're one of the strongest beings in the universe?

Well, you're right. No one really seemed to pay much attention to his ass, since they were getting they're own asses kicked. And I'm guessing that Freeza wouldn't approve of his minions having their bare asses exposed in public.

However dub Freeza couldn't care less, in fact it's a uniform requirement.
