Yeah, yeah... I realized it as I was saying it, and just didn't bother to correct myself... this is how audio works, sometimes...

Downloaded the episode yesterday, but I was waiting to listen to it to read-along with the Manga. I started with 12, read 13, and skimmed through volume 14 while listening to the Podcast. I feel awesome.
Anyway, another good episode, and I never expected you four to talk for 45 minutes about the "Kiddy Porn Manga removed from Library" story. I thought you were never going to actually get to the damn topic!

Next quest: Buy the Super: Broly and Super Hero Blurays, also Daima whenever that releases in the states. Also the Super Manga!

Belated thoughts on Viz's "Caused another one of us to die" line: I guess that's in reference to all the androids before #16, who Gero was said to have gotten rid of. Of course, if Gero himself was the one who destroyed them, you wouldn't really say that he "caused them to die", you'd just say that he killed them. That's the thing about "Caused another one of us to die": it's an extremely awkward phrase.

Hey Mike, I totally agree with your discussion on the whole dub audio on the Dragonbox sets. I just wanted to add one little point on the whole "nostalgia" point. Me personally, who I guess you could call a Funimation Loyalist (Was that the term?), I think that had they had not included a track with the voice cast, some more people would be upset. I do have a nostalgic connection to those voices, but the music was always bad. I always enjoyed the Japanese soundtrack so much more.
Obviously people must have come to the boards complaining about the lack of the Funi music, I don't know, I've been gone for awhile. Vocal minority, whatever.

I think you've kind of missed a point. I, at least as a One Piece and Dragon Ball fan, love that One Piece can be both dark and light at the same time. For a period of at least ten volumes (the Water Seven arc), the story grew progressively darker as the crew was torn a part by disagreement and a lack of faith. Sure, it's 'sentimental', but Shônen--for the most part--are about escapism. For an issue a week you get to follow somebody else's life as they achieve their dreams. The focus of Dragon Ball stopped being personal after a while and became too detached. While I love the suspense of this particular era, when was the last time we saw Gokû as happy as he was when he won the Tenka'ichi?
Not that I really care to compare the two. I love both of series' and each has their own strength. There is a vocal, however small or large, grouping of fans that praise the shared tone of the two series, but I think you're giving their opinions far too much weight in the literal sense of them being facts if you're going to devote paragraphs to picking them a part.

I don't know, Kunzait, I can't say I've ever seen that attitude you describe as anything close to all-pervasive around these parts. I do see people praise DB's light-hearted elements, but I rarely see people bash the Saiyan, Freeza and Cell arcs because they're too serious. I'd say I see the opposite viewpoint far more: that the early, light-hearted stuff was just a waste of time and that the series only really began when the intense fighting kicks in.
I do agree to an extent that One Piece fans sometimes put too much emphasis on just how much Oda has planned the series in advance. Those "wow, he planned that the whole time" moments are fun, but ultimately if the story itself isn't any good, who cares how well he planned it? Of course, I do think that the story is quite good, so I disagree with you there. And I also can't agree that Oda lets his love for the characters get in the way. Lately Oda seems to hate Luffy, if you went by how the story's unfolding.
