It really makes THAT much of a difference? I thought Kai was just that awesome looking. Oh well, I guess it's back to the Dragonboxes for me again.Jurik wrote:That's because of the "35mm" as on the DragonBox, that quality is until Piccolo arrivesgotenx wrote:Does anybody know the reason why the preview for episode 39 looked so bad compared to the the actual episode 38? It's exactly the same on the Dragonbox, the quality drops there too once Piccolo arrives. Also only the last four episodes were higher quality because they were actually on 35mm. All the rest, including everything before those episodes are in that slightly worse quality. So Dragonbox won't do you any more good.gotenx wrote:It really makes THAT much of a difference? This episode retained some Kuririn filler, but it allowed the pacing of the episode to fill out much better. Next week looks chop Piccolo's fight with Freeza down quite a bit from what it was in Dragon Ball Z.
I haven't been keeping up, but I figured Piccolo vs Freeza would get a large cut. The manga, for example, has no fighting after Piccolo "gets serious." It goes straight to Freeza's transformation. Which I always felt was a little anti-climatic, but I figure Kai will trim or cut that.
To show my appreciation, I'll only beat them half to death.

So since we're going to see Freeza's third form next episode how many episodes do you think it will take to get to Goku vs Freeza and how long till the end of the fight.

I suspect Gokû will arrive at the end of episode 40 and the fight will begin with episode 41. Since Kai is 99.999% sure to be ending with episode 50, it'll be a 8-9 episode fight.ShadowDude112 wrote:So since we're going to see Freeza's third form next episode how many episodes do you think it will take to get to Goku vs Freeza and how long till the end of the fight.

Doesn't seem to bad I mean episode 40 is right after Freeza goes into his third form. But that's the weird thing. Will they make Freeza transform into his final form in episode 39? I mean it sounds kind of logical but I dunno.JulieYBM wrote:I suspect Gokû will arrive at the end of episode 40 and the fight will begin with episode 41. Episode 39: Uncle Big Green and Freeza do the tango for a bit, and Freeza (as shown in the preview) transforms into his third form.
Episode 40: Gohan saves Piccolo from Freeza's one-sided bludgeoning. Vegeta feels he has awakened as a Super Saiyan, but the final form Freeza proves otherwise. Gokû appears.
Episode 41: Vegeta dies, Son Gokû and Freeza begin their epic fight.
Although, I could be wrong on this. I think I'll do a more in-depth speculation after I see #39.

Re: Kai Episode 38 (27 December 2009)
I hope by 99.999% you mean "we have no idea when it'll actually end". For as far as we know it'll be 100 episodes. There's no concrete evidence, or an official announcement, that says when it'll be ending. Everything so far is pure speculation, or people's personal guesses.JulieYBM wrote:I suspect Gokû will arrive at the end of episode 40 and the fight will begin with episode 41. Personally, there's a 50/50 chance between ending at episode 50 or 100. I still don't see why it'd end at 50, but that's just me. I mean, it has good ratings and I'm sure they're making money off of it, since they barely put any into it to begin with. If it does end at 50 and they say that's what Toriyama had originally intended, I want Toriyama to make a statement about why it's ending there since there's never been anything officially stated about it ending after the Freeza arc. Also, wouldn't they have to change the end of the Freeza arc so it all works? Though, I guess that wouldn't be too hard.
Re: Kai Episode 38 (27 December 2009)
It was an assumption on my part, yes. And while I'm assuming Kai will stop at #50, that doesn't mean I could not foresee it returning another time. I'd be glad to be proven wrong, but the ending of Dragon Ball Kai doesn't exactly have to be radically different from the end of Dragon Ball Z's Freeza arc. If the series ends/breaks with #50, it could still easily end with the news that Gokû will return when he's ready.
Nonetheless, news specifying an end or continuation are bound to come in the coming weeks and we'll know for sure then.

I'm still not sure how this is being taken as fact. We've seen 16mm reels for the episodes, but I don't recall any proof of a 35mm.Jurik wrote:That's because of the "35mm" as on the DragonBox, that quality is until Piccolo arrivesgotenx wrote:Does anybody know the reason why the preview for episode 39 looked so bad compared to the the actual episode 38? If I read that right, does this mean that there is a chance that the Freeza arc will be considered the ending to DBZ? By that I mean everything after Freeza arc is disregarded like GT?Hujio wrote: Personally, there's a 50/50 chance between ending at episode 50 or 100. Re: Kai Episode 38 (27 December 2009)
I don't see how you could consider that the end of DBZ, just the end of Kai. All-in-all, if it ends after the Freeza arc, it's going to cause a lot of discussion across the fandom and make things quite confusing. It will help substantiate the baseless rumor that Toriyama wanted the series to end after the Freeza arc, which to this day is pure speculation. This is one reason I don't want Kai to just end at that point. Another reason is then fans will debate about whether or not the Cell and Majin Buu arcs are canon or not, which is just ridiculous. Overall, I think it will cause more problems than anything. And on top of all that, it is still just a rumor that it's going to end at 50.yunzabit wrote:If I read that right, does this mean that there is a chance that the Freeza arc will be considered the ending to DBZ? However, I agree that spreading rumors about Kai's ending is a terrible idea so let's leave it at that. Thanks for your insight though!

Even if Kai ends with Freeza there'd be no debate about if Cell and Buu are canon because DBO already settles that.Another reason is then fans will debate about whether or not the Cell and Majin Buu arcs are canon or not, which is just ridiculous. Re: Kai Episode 38 (27 December 2009)
We must be talking about two different fandoms then. Someone out there will be dumb enough to debate that Toriyama didn't plan on doing those arcs and that the series was "meant to be done" like Kai, so those arcs don't count. Trust me, it'll happen, somewhere. It may not be on these forums, but it'll happen.Xyex wrote:Even if Kai ends with Freeza there'd be no debate about if Cell and Buu are canon because DBO already settles that.
