The difference though is between what was thought up by Toriyama for the kids and what was thought up by Toei for the kidz.
What's wrong with who thinks up what? They're the same characters and the spirit of the story is definately unchanged. The difference would be that either it feels like it is too fast or far too slow, (but not as slow as DBZ at its worst).

Either way, this brings me back to my original point, Toriyama backed the show so whether it is 'good' or not should not be judged with respect to his involvement since he supported it.

Whether the story is good or not is another issue and if you judge it on that aspect, then it also reflects somewhat on Toriyama which is absolutely fine. But just realize that.

Besides, the best episodes of DBZ IMHO were the Saiyan saga filler and they had just as much to do with Toriyama. Those were damn fine episodes.

Ok I'm not really being clear, sorry about that. What I meant is that the feeling I got from GT was that a committee or couple of designers sat down and said; "going back to basic didnt work, right, what do the kids like?". As a by product of that you get the (in my opinion) boring fights and lack of attention to detail that are the reasons I dont like GT.

Aurek, Anime in Japan is aimed at kids. No matter how mature it is. They dont even consider stuff like Adult Swim.

Well, not all anime is for kids. =/ Only the likes of Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Pocket Monsters, Digimon, etc. Porno anime is scary. ;.;

That might just be because of cultural differences.

It's still a kid's show. This is a country that finds physical, bathroom humour very funny. There is even a game that really young children play which consists of sneaking up behind someone and poking your two index fingers up their butt. And I can't belive I just explained that.>_> So cultural differences is a big factor.

And now we know!

Which is why un-cut DBZ can't be called a kid's show by U.S. standards.

Sure it can. They just wouldn't understand some of the references, and moms would continue to be a bunch of wankers 'cuz they're not cultured and don't enjoy potty humor :).

But this isn't the topic of this thread, thank you ^_~.

No it can't. I don't even think in Japan it would be acceptable to show a woman's breasts (animated or not) to children under the age of 13. No way.

Dude, get a better world view. Not all countries are as hyper sensitive about light nudity as the North American ones are.

Edit: (Obviously directed to Master Swordsman)

The finger-poking game is called "Kancho."

If you want to know how perverted Japanese society is, I suggest you read these editorials, written by an American teaching English in Japan.

I don't exactly look at Japanese DBZ as a kid show. You could say that I'm in denial, or a hyped up fanboy or whatever, but I stick to my opinion. I don't however, look at it as a huge adult only show either. I look at it as more of a wide audience show that adults and children alike both enjoy. Like the Simpsons.
