Rumiko Takahashi (Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma 1/2, InuYasha)

1.) Instead of being multiple sagas, it'd probably keep to one adventure Dragon Ball hunt, meaning a lot more than just seven balls
2.) The original five (Goku, Bulma, Oolong, Yamcha, Puar) would be the main group for the whole thing, with reoccurring characters like Master Roshi every now and then
3.) Bulma and Chichi would be a lot more independent fighters, and their romances with Yamcha and Goku would be a lot more developed
4.) Piccolo Daimao and Emperor Pilaf would be the main villains, who find new ways to reinvent themselves as the series goes along
5.) Last but not least, a shit ton more boobies

I'm a fan of Tite Kubo's artstyle. Love his sharp lines. Besides, cool character designs. It'll ed up turned into pile of poop though, along with chronic lack of likable characters...

Prime candidate would be Yoshishiro Togashi. I'm not even a fan of his works, but they have impressed me the most. Yu Yu Hakusho may be simple, but its a beast compared to Bleach. Yusuke isn't deep (ranks along Inuyasha), but has undefinable aura about him which makes Ichigo & Naruto pale in comparison.

I'm sure Takeshi Obata-Ohba duo would create masterpiece, only prob with me would be it'd focus too much on lead characters, and as Bleach, lack of interesing/likable characters.

I think Bleach suffers from what I call TMCS, Too Many Characters Syndrome.

Its understandable to have a large well rounded and fleshed out cast but Bleach has dozens, literally, dozens of major characters with their own personalities (ranging from almost no depth, to incredible depth). Perhaps if Kubo didnt shove in so many characters, more of them would have had more time to flesh out.

Agreed, part of my problem with Bleach is that it has way too many character. If it kept focus on just the main cast, like the Fullbring arc, then I'd have enjoyed it a lot more.

If Hirohiko Araki wrote Dragon Ball, the protagonist of the series would begin with Bardock, then Goku, then actually change to Gohan and we'd probably be able to trace the Son family lineage for a much longer period of time.

If Nobuhiro Watsuki (Rurouni Kenshin/Buso Renkin/Embalming) had done Dragon Ball, it probably would have been a bit shorter (let's say...it'd end with Freeza probably, or maybe even Vegeta); there would be more focus on Goku 'fighting against his Saiyan nature'; the other characters would get a little more focus and get some fights of their own to win; and, yes, I'm saying it - the fight scenes would look even more awesome than Toriyama's. Seriously, have you seen Watsuki's speed lines in the Kenshin manga? *drools over the awesomeness*

Now this I wouldn't mind happening. His style would work perfectly for Dragon Ball.

Oda is too sentimental and does too much in his stories to the point that you don't care about the main characters. Togashi would be great...but....hiatuses.

Not too sure how the mangakas of Naruto and Bleach would perform if they were put to the task. They'd probably make it a better-written story, but only slightly, and the charm of DB would probably be gone.

As for he actual discussion, if Dragon Ball were written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, the whole series would focus on Goku and Pilaf's gritty struggle over the Dragon Balls in order to enforce/protect their own perception of "justice".

I would love to see a female mangaka take on Dragon Ball. You can guarantee more female characters will be at the forefront in some arcs. Hiromu Arakawa's take would be interesting, if not a bit dark sometimes. Yuu Watase would probably make it drama romance heavy... which would be hella fun for me at least.

2.) Yamcha wouldn't be afraid of girls, instead Bulma would fawn all over him while he ignores her and she ignores Goku.
3.) Kuririn, Tenshinhan, and Lunch would be a rival team. Lunch and Kuririn wouldn't be necessarily evil, but Ten would have some tragic backstory explaining why hes so angst
4.) Baba would be Kuririn/Tenshinhan/Lunch's leader, and she also becomes mayor of Dragon World, and her Roshi and Piccolo will all be rivals.
5.) Piccolo would be the main villain, and the series would end with Yamcha leaving Roshi's team to train under Piccolo because he is sick of being a jobber
