How were the segments with Pilaf and the gang? Also, from the trailer, Kyle Hebert sounds a bit different as Gohan. Is it just me, or has he changed up the voice a bit?Castor Troy wrote:Kendamu and I went to the premiere last night and had a great time.
While I admit I wasn't the biggest fan of the movie when it first came out, watching it in the theater made it a lot better for me and the dub was pretty solid as you would expect.
The crowd laughed at all the appropriate moments (and even laughed at some parts that weren't funny) and the dub handled the humor quite well.
Definitely see it in the theater if you can. I actually want to go watch it again if it will play near me.

Good to finally see this movie coming out here. I'm surprised it took them one a year and a half to do so. Disappointing that it is only a limited release, though. Is there yet a place to see a list of all the theaters and times it is going to be playing at?

That's a pretty good time span. This is the quickest FUNi has put out a DragonBall movie after it was released in Japan and people still complain that it took "too long".Chou Gohan wrote:Good to finally see this movie coming out here. How did they handle Goku introducing himself to Beerus?

Well, I was kidding obviously. Why do some people think Faulconer was going to do it, though? Nathan Johnson and Mark Menza did most of the movies.Castor Troy wrote:Theatrical Version.Valerius Dover wrote:And I've got several questions.Castor Troy wrote:Kendamu and I went to the premiere last night and had a great time.

Was it the theatrical version?
Was there any swearing?
Are Cha-La-Head-Cha-La and HERO kept?
Is the original score kept?
A few instances of "Bastard" and "Damn".
Both songs are kept, but are the Engrish versions. Yes Engrish sung by Flow themselves.
What do you think? Bruce Faulconer would compose for the movie?

Sean did a really good job with it. He played a hilariously submissive Goku.Fizzer wrote:How did they handle Goku introducing himself to Beerus?

And the bingo scene? How was Sabat's performance there?

Sorry to add to the incoming wave of questions for you, Kendamu and Castor, but before I forget, here's a few things that I wouldn't mind hearing about if you remember and have a moment.
1) How were Jason Douglas and Ian Sinclair as Beerus and Whis? I love Douglas, but while he sounded better in the trailer here than he did in BoZ, it's still hard for me to imagine him as Beerus as of now. Ian Sinclair I'm imagining is just fine as Whis though.
2) Where was there narration from Kyle Hebert, and how was he? I'm having a hard time remembering any narration in the standard theatrical version of the film to begin with.
3) I'm assuming yes, but did they keep the Table mention?
4) You didn't happen to recognize or notice in the credits who is playing little Marron, did you? It's the only role not listed in the site credits, and darn it, they list Bubbles for crying out loud.
5) I concur with an earlier question, how was the Bingo scene?

Are there any differences to how Kyle Hebert does Gohan?
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
There were a few panels where Kara Edwards said she was wanting to change Goten's voice a little bit, does anyone know if she ended up doing that here?

I'm am also curious as to how Kyle sounds, but I have a feeling his voice is only slightly tweeked from his usual Gohan voice from the previous dubs. Yes in the trailer his line sounded somewhat higher-pitched and more playful, but given that Goku's lines were rehashed from Kai, I'd take some of those trailer lines with a grain of salt.ShadowDude112 wrote: How were the segments with Pilaf and the gang? Actually I have a small theory that Gohan's one line from the BoG theatrical trailer might have been taken from Funi's dub of Buu Arc Kai. It sounds a bit playful so it might not be from where he powers up in front of Kibito at the tournament; maybe it was somewhere from the Saiyaman arc? Either way I really don't remember such a line like that said in BoG from Gohan.
Personally I'm curious as to how Colleen Clinkenbeard sounded as Mai with the Pilaf trio. She's only played Mai in the video games previously, and that was of course the older Mai voice. With the usual requests of Vegeta's bingo song, I'm confident that Sabat nailed it, especially since it doesn't have to be particularly "good" singing. As long as it gets a major laugh from the audience, I think it'll be great. I also can't wait to hearing Kara as Videl and Goten again (especially because of how excited she was at last year's Animazment from the scenes she heard about in BoG)
With much of the old cast returning and my excitement to hear Jason Douglas and Ian Sinclar's banters as the new characters, August can't get here any sooner.

Hey, how did they handled Videl's marital status? In the Mexican dub they said Gohan should take better care of his "wife", not "fiance/girlfriend". No babies out of wedlock here!! I'm guessing it will be similar for American audiences?

I'd be curious to know Mai, as well as how Pilaf and Shu sound. Since they're kids, they might sound a bit different.
Also, what's with the marriage deal? Are Vegeta and Bulma not married? Are Gohan and Videl not?

I'm 99.99% sure that Videl is called Gohan's wife in the original Japanese, too. This is like 4 years after the Majin Boo arc, after all. It's been long enough for them both to graduate high school, get married, and conceive Pan... presumably in that order.
Dragon Ball ended in 1997.

Well, I was watching some videos yesterday & Sabat said how he liked that film filled in some information that was previously lacking and he gave the example of Vegeta being married to Bulma.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
It was technically mentioned during the Boo saga: when Gokuu was talking about giving the old Kaioushin some hawt pixxx of Bulma and Vegeta figured out who he was talking about, he yelled about "using someone else's wife". But since the line was completely different in English ("let him kiss your woman!"), I can see why Sabat didn't realize it had been brought up before. Though I'm pretty sure the GT dub mentioned their marital status...but everyone dismisses GTBaggie_Saiyan wrote:Well, I was watching some videos yesterday & Sabat said how he liked that film filled in some information that was previously lacking and he gave the example of Vegeta being married to Bulma.
So psyched to watch this in a theater! So far, the closest screening is 35 miles away, but when I try to buy tickets for it, the showing doesn't exist Checking every single day for more listings to appear...come on, FUNimation, don't let me down! I need to see the epic bingo scene on the big screen! Although, I hope that whatever audience I'm watching it with "gets" the movie and doesn't complain about the comedy bits, or yell out quotes from the Abridged series or "over 9000! lolz" I had a pretty terrible experience watching the X movie in theaters back in...the year 2000 or so? (fuck, that makes me feel old...) I knew we were in trouble from the beginning when half the crowd was giggling over nudity in one of the earliest scenes. And the dramatic climax of the movie resulted in uproarious laughter from most of the audience. My friends and I were all appalled, and one guy in the audience even yelled "fuck you guys!" and stormed out. I truly hope that these screenings of Battle of Gods won't result in any terrible experiences like that, but having gone through that has made me nervous about every publicly screened anime move since.

Asked about it in the podcast thread, but figured I'd throw it out here as well - there was a mention of an actor from Teen Wolf appearing at the premiere. Anyone have any idea exactly who it was?

Speaking of marriage, what's with the Trunks and Mai thing? Is it just mindless shipping, or is this actually part of the movie?
Either way, this is really ironic....Now Trunks is on the other end of pedophilia.
