Jesus Christ, every time something new involving Gohan comes out, we are discussing ''How the hell can he turn SSJ?!''.
Because that power wasn't sealed off by the powerup, only that he became powerfull enough that turning SSJ won't make any difference.

I think he goes with SSJ, because our loved nerdy dipshit just can't sustain the power he got by the powerup and is getting rusty without proper training.
Same happen between Cell arc and Buu arc. I wonder why are such huge discussions in the movie thread and not in In-Universe section then.

It's true that they never said he couldn't turn SSJ again, however, the fact that they corrected it in BoG after fans pointed it out on twitter does suggest he's not supposed to be SSJ. I think the most likely explanation is that Tori-bot forgot he's not supposed to be SSJ lol

I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up being in the final version of the film. That'd be the third time a Super Saiyan is recolored.

No. In the manga, Old Kaioshin, after the ritual, said to Gohan: "try using your SSJ or whatever you call it". Gohan did but instead of becoming SSJ, he became mystic.

That means that when Gohan tries to use SSJ he goes Mystic instead.

Its Toei and the people who make the anime who, ever since GT, ignore this and continue to insist in not offering an official explanation for why Gohan can turn SSJ now. That's what bothers fans, the fact that that they can't be bothered to waste two lines of dialog explaining that the effects of the ritual have started to wear out or that after becoming used to it, Gohan realized that he could still turn SSJ, or some other simple explanation.

Criticize Toei, not the fans who want a simple explanation and consistency.

We can't be 100% sure that this is the case. And like I said, many scenes from trailers often get cut in the final movie. I'm not saying that the scene will get recolored, I'm saying the scene may not even make it in the end.

I hated DB Minus. Because one thing is doing new stories like BOG and FNF, other thing is rewrite something that was been done in the past and better (even though it wasn't made by him), after all these years. At least, Gine is beautiful.

You're waiting for something that may not happen?! If Toriyama wans't aboard, that would 99% sure be the ending.
But since he is, he may surprise again, just like he did with BOG ending.

I think he was just talking about himself when thinking of using the earrings. I don't think it's stated anywhere that both parties need either be a Super Saiyan or not for a Potarra Fusion, just for the Metamorize method - and that's only because the two parties have to be of similar height and power. Therefore it stands to reason, that even using the Fusion Dance where those rules definitely apply, when Gohan is in his powered up state, Goku would need to be a Super Saiyan of some sort and Gohan reduce his power in order for it to work.

It's Toriyama's story, he can tell whatever he wants in it. He is not obligated to follow anime-only versions of stuff he didn't get to yet, even if he did like it.

Clearly, Toriyama had a different Planet Vegeta and series of events in mind with Goku's origin. After Jaco changed quite a bit, it only makes sense to let the guy explain Goku's origin better. Minus actually gave Goku a mother (which the Bardock special seemed to think was a concept that didn't exist), and showed us what a modern Saiyan society looks like. It was nice to see what Saiyans who aren't quite up to being soldiers do, and the variety of appearances they have (and that Raditz actually existed back then; interesting that he was with Vegeta).

Jaco adding the rule about Time Travel not being allowed sets up the DBO/Xenoverse stuff in an interesting way.

But yes, I'm interested to see where the movie goes. What was Hell like for Freeza? What caused his change? Who will fight Freeza, and who will win?

Also, Cops: Satan City edition will be fun, I'm sure, lol.

I could do a full translation, but most of it is just context for their central piece of information: a three-line dialogue between Freeza and Goku.

The article further implies that this is the part which led to thinking that Gokû will not transform at all but it might actually be that, when they first meet after Freeza's revival, Gokû considers transforming to SSJ useless/irrelevant. Maybe he will see how Freeza became much stronger and finally transforms.

The piece of dialogue was supposedly recorded during the Jump Festa Special but... as there is no proof of this record, take all this with a pinch of salt...

Its easy to see Goku acting like that. I think almost everyone, me included, thought he didn't need ssj anymore to beat old Freeza. But we need confirmation.

I thought pretty much the same when I read it but wanted to share it here so that everyone knows about this being a possibility. Usually, as far as I remember, this site (db-z.com) only relates information that has been already revealed and does not go into fancy news and suppositions... That does not mean that this dialogue is 100% valid and true (far from that) but at least this site isn't well known for fake information, so I'd give it some credit...

Frankly, as a Gohan fan, I've come to peace with the fact that he's not going to be a main character anymore because he's not crazy about fighting and he's a nerd. He's always preferred studying and being peaceful than kicking people around, so I understood that he wouldn't be in the spotlight anymore. If anything, this movie is already giving me more Gohan than I thought I would ever have haha. I figured they would probably want Trunks and Goten to feature prominently as the "new generation" but then again, it doesn't look like Goku and Vegeta want to make way for any kind of new generation yet, so whatever.

Actually, the fact that Gohan even has a prominent role in this movie (I mean, as prominent as a non-Goku can get) makes me think that there's actually truth in that theory that it's the Freeza saga cast that has been brought together for a rematch, maybe it has to do with the wish?
