So, what do you think the budget to this will be? Since Toei is known for being cheap, will this be just as cheap as their past new animations?

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

Depending upon how long this series lasts it would be interesting to see a timeskip, as Toriyama employed during the actual comic run. Getting Pan and Bra to be old enough to be able to have personalities would at least be nice.

I think if the animation is at least somewhat better than what One Piece is getting, then I'd satisfied. But it really depends how long Toei/Toriyama plan on series lasting. If its 100+ episode, the animation will be average at best. If it's 50 episodes or less, we could get pretty good animation for the majority of the anime.

Nope, just people getting excited ( understandably ), with a bit of debate on the concerns, what to expect and what we want to see in the new series. :D

Each episode will probably be allowed $90,000-100,000 USD, but no more than 3,000 cels/sheets for in-betweens and three hundred cuts for key animation. Produced on an expedient schedule with few key animators and animation supervisors the series probably won't look great because nobody planned far enough ahead of schedule to put the series in a position primed for high-quality production. OLM has their ducks in a row, so Pocket Monster gets away with having mostly six or seven teams and consistently not-awful looking episodes.

I just want justice for all the non-Gokus and non-Vegetas. I would REALLY like for Pan to be an actual character who actually gets something to do but that's asking too much.

I'm so HYPE for this. I can't believe it, my inner 10 year old is screaming like crazy. I don't care too much about quality or plotholes, just give me new dragon ball stuff and give it to me soon!

IGN actually posted some fairly well informed and pleasant thoughts on the new series. Refreshing to hear outside the Kanzenshuu community.

Why do think DBS would get no more than 3,000 cels/sheets per episode?

Really excited about this.

I have a strong feeling it won't take place after EoZ though. Most probably during the 5 year gap between F and EoZ, with new universes and Gods of Destructions. Since they revealed 12 different universes, I felt only a new series could properly depict this. Well, here it is. I don't expect Uub or EoZ Pan.

It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

I have been shaken to my very core about this announcement. I may even have mixed feelings about this. To think that we would see this story now continue "properly" after almost 20 years after Dragon Ball Z ended is just something I am having trouble processing. This has just blown my mind. What are some things you guys would like to see in this new series? Here's just a couple things off the top of my head.

1. For the new series to begin shortly after the Majin Buu Arc ends and lead into Battle of Gods and Revival of F throughout the show. I want to see the show cover Age 774 after the Majin Buu Arc to Age 784. That is the period of time the show needs to cover.
2. Let's talk about the structure of the show. I would like to see the show have Three Main Arcs with three majors villains just like Z with lots of short Minor Arcs between the Three Main Arcs.
3. The return of Future Trunks for one of the Major Arcs.
4. The return of Cell for maybe a Minor Arc.
5. The new series to give a massive power up to Piccolo so he can be on par with Goku and Vegeta and help them in the fights.
6. I don't expect our human fighters or Gohan to really do much fighting in the new series. They should get plenty of screen time though.
7. Have the five main fighters in the new series be Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks.
8. Lots of Roshi humor.
9. Have Tenshinhan make an appearance every once in a while and do something cool.
10. The birth of Pan and Bulla.
11. Beerus and Whis to be featured on the show some once the story gets past Battle of Gods.
12. For Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Goten, and Trunks to explore these other Universes.
13. Have the show be at least 150-200 episodes.

That's about all I can think of for now. My mind is about to explode from this news and I don't whether or not it's a good or bad thing. I watched this series on Toonami as a child, and now I'm watching new episodes as an adult. All I can say is WOW.........

Holy god, I'm blown away by how much they've stepped it up. Especially compared to THIS.

Piccolo really needs some love. I think it's time to introduce a Namek god.

I don't even care if he shares second-tier status with Gohan, Toriyama needs to throw him a bone. With basically everything being played loose with now, there's no reason not to other than him just not giving a fuck about the character anymore. The series should revolve around a big 4 of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan and Piccolo.

Re: a FUNimation simulcast

While I'm sure they would absolutely love to do it, there's no guarantee that they can. It's not like they just go to the anime store, grab a show, and check out at the cash register. Contracts have to be signed with Toei that both sides need to agree to. Fuji TV, Shueisha, or Toriyama may want to sign off on the deal as well. And for a franchise as big as Dragon Ball, one of those parties could have unreasonable demands before signing any contracts.

Well, if Freeza can become near-Beerus level with a few months of training, I don't see why Piccolo can't.

Actually it's kinda weird how Piccolo gained so little after his training in the ROSAT compared to Freeza, considering Piccolo (fused with Kami) is way stronger than Freeza

No more God power ups!
But I'm down with Piccolo getting a huge boost from a few months of training.
Just make sure he doesn't come back gold...

I feel like way too many people are missing why this works for Freeza but doesn't really apply to other characters.

Before his revival in Fukkatsu no F, Freeza had never trained a day in his life. As soon as he reached maturity (or possibly sooner), he was born with the incredible battle power that it takes a Super Saiyan to defeat. In addition to that, he is thought to be a prodigy among his race. Because of this, once he actually DOES decide to train, it doesn't take long for him to become much more powerful. Compare this to Goku, born with a battle power of 2, training all of his young and a portion of his adult life to become strong enough to defeat non-Golden Freeza.

Because of this, that same explanation wouldn't work at all on Piccolo. It could work on someone like Goten or Trunks who also appear to be prodigies, but different people peak at different times in their life and have different potentials. Any given character's potential is up to Toriyama to decide.

That's not to say that non-Saiyans couldn't find a means to tap into Godly ki, however.

So I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but after thinking on it a bit, I think I know at least one solid reason why a simuldub will (probably) not happen: cast availability.

I won't go into it too deeply, but recently I did see the topic of the simuldubs talked about on Sonny Strait's FB page, and it came up that because of how fast moving the process for those dubs are, everyone has to be extremely, EXTREMELY local to get a part in one of those. As in, they pretty much have to be in the same town that FUNi's main studio is. Even Houston and other areas of Texas are considered too far away apparently.

Now, with that in mind - Sean Schemmel (Goku), Kyle Hebert (Gohan), and Laura Bailey (Trunks) just off the top of my head are no longer in Texas. Not to mention that others of the cast may not be in the same parts of Texas as FUNi is either. That could cause a problem on that front. So really, I think the most we can hope for (and I really hope it does happen) is a simulcast, not a simuldub.
