Waku Waku +NYC wants our questions for Takao Koyama
Waku Waku +NYC seems to be a new Japanese pop culture festival launching August 29-30 at Brooklyn. Takao Koyama, who was once a screenwriter for DBZ and Saint Seiya, will be a guest there. Waku Waku made it known on their Twitter that they want OUR questions for Mr. Koyama.

They also have a Facebook post about it.

Let's gather some questions here to be sent!

Edit: Decided.
"When you were writing out the scripts for the next Dragonball Z movie, how would you approach the task of creating the ever increasingly powerful threats that Goku and company would face?"

Tossing around: maybe asking if there's anything interesting that was almost in any of the Dragon Ball movies, but got cut for time? Like plot stuff that would've made it if not for the 50-odd minute run time?

Or perhaps any movie ideas that didn't make it altogether?Chuquita wrote:Tossing around: maybe asking if there's anything interesting that was almost in any of the Dragon Ball movies, but got cut for time? Like plot stuff that would've made it if not for the 50-odd minute run time?

Yeah, I like this question!Chuquita wrote:Tossing around: maybe asking if there's anything interesting that was almost in any of the Dragon Ball movies, but got cut for time? Like plot stuff that would've made it if not for the 50-odd minute run time?
My question would just be something simply along the lines of-- Which Dragon Ball Z film or special was your favorite to write? Also, if you could write a fleshed out version, or sequel to any Dragon Ball Z film or special, which one would you do and why?

Here's my question:
"Since Dende is God of Earth in DBZ Movie 6(which was released more than ½ a year before the manga gave him the position), did you know in advance that Toriyama was going to make Dende God of Earth?"

- Did you ever get the chance to meet Toriyama in person? What things did you have to consult with him about?
- The DBZ movies in the past carried a more serious tone, while the tone in recent movies has become more lighthearted and comical. What is your opinion on the direction the series has taken?
- How long would the production of a script and DBZ movie usually take? What was the most difficult part of the process?
- Do you remember any plot ideas you originally had in mind for the movies but ended up changing? Did you ever have to go back and completely change a script that you had already finished and if so, why?
- If you had all seven Dragon Balls, what would you wish for?
- Which scenes from any of the films are your favorite?
- If you were able to go back and change one thing about these movies what would it be?
- Who is your favorite character and why?
- In your opinion, was Goku really there contributing to the Kamehameha in DBZ Movie 10?
- Did Gohan fight Broly as a Super Saiyan 2 in Movie 10? And if so, why was it decided to not include sparks in his aura?
- Why does Piccolo no longer make an appearance after Movie 9?
- How would Broly compare to the characters nowadays?
- Did you ever expect Dragon Ball would still be continuing to this day?

Re: Waku Waku +NYC wants our questions for Takao Koyama
Hi everyone, this is Carl, the community manager for Waku Waku +NYC!
I want to thank everyone here for providing questions so far. It's really awesome to see fans who want to really engage with the creators of their favorite series, and we can't wait to bring these questions over to Mr. Koyama.
I also want to say that we're going to stop taking questions by 11:59pm EST on Monday July 13, so if anyone's been on the fence, submit your questions before it's too late!

"If Dragon Ball Super ever gets movies while it's running similarly to Dragon Ball Z, would you want to come back and work on the script for those side-stories?"

I guess it's too late for me to submit my questions. I wish I knew earlier. I would have love to ask about GT.

Ah, yeah, shame I missed this. Well, anyway, plenty of the questions already posted look interesting, so looking forwards to seeing what the answers will be!

So does anyone know how this turned out?

Yeah, I'm curious too!Son_Gohan wrote:So does anyone know how this turned out?
I looked up their twitter and was led to a wordpress site covering the event in general, but it doesn't go into detail about the Q&As with the Koyamas.
Are we going to get that Q&A published or will it forever remain available only to those who were actually present??
I'd find that very disappointing
Update:
I did manage to find a blog post that transcribed the first part of the Koyamas' panel:
